I am a new member and loving all the great advice I am seeing. Im getting stuck on finding some info I need. I have four negative accounts that are listed as "paid, closed". How can I get these TL's taken care off so that they are not shown as negative? Thanks in advance

Welcome to CreditBoards, Tauni21!

Here's an excellent place to start...it's found in the Newbies Section on the main CB page:

http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=425508&st=0

And I'll answer your question with a question -- are the accounts listed by a CA (collection agency) or the OC (original creditor)...? You'd handle them differently, aside from just disputing them with the CRA (credit reporting agency.)

You'll find the answer to that question and more if you'll really dig into the Newbie Section. Please don't make the same mistake a lot of us made by running headlong into repair, not really knowing the real reason behind the "suggestions" we were taking. There is no one-size-fits-all answer in this game. So I hope you'll give yourself the HUGE advantage of learning all you can learn before taking any action. :clapping:

Did you pay them off or were they sold to a CA?

Thank you. These are the accounts listed. I noticed that two are from the same account one time from Capitol One and then listed again when Capital One sold the account to Portfolio Recovery Assoc (whom I ended up paying). The other ones I paid as well.

1. Capital

Transferred, closed. $725 written off

Purchased by another lender. Portfolio Recoveries Assoc

2. CBA Collection Bureau

Paid, closed

Original Creditor: DS waters of America Inc

3. LA Financial Credit Union

Paid, closed

Comment: this item remained unchanged from our processing of your dispute in Feb 2010

4. Pacific Federal Credit Union

paid, closed

Comment: This item remained unchanged from our processing of your dispute in Mar 2010

5. Portfolio Recovery Associates

Paid,closed

Original Creditor: Capital One

Comment: account information disputed by consumer (meets requirement of the Fair Credit Reporting Act)
