After a pretty hot streak of opening a couple of new accounts (including an Amex Green card - finally in with them! :clapping: ) I decided to hit up my existing accounts with puny limits for CLIs.

Except for Citi/BB, I was successful across the board. However, Macys' response was below (I gave the reason as redecorating the house and needs some decor/furniture).

In order to process your request, we highly suggest that you go to the store and one of our store associates will be more than happy to partner with our Credit Granting Department to accommodate you with your purchase.

That sounds to me like 'prove you need the limit by making a purchase at the store, and we'll grant it'. Looking for a response from others with experience. Thoughts?

Thanks!

yes, that's often the case with store cards.

but that's not going to raise your CL.

they'll just let you purchase over your limit.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. I know they used to do the transactional approvals and no limits, but moved to a limit-based card maybe a year or two ago, so I wasn't sure. I typically purchase about $200 at a time max there, but thought it would be nice to have the higher limit in case I did want to carry a balance for some odd reason.

never carry a balance on a store card.

the interest is almost always over 20%.

+1

How do you think it is that they have real estate at Simon malls, nationwide, in the heart of major areas! That don't come cheap!
