What should scores look like be for applying for this card and bill me later anyone no? And which bureau do they pull , and doesn't bankruptcy affect the approval ?

Check the creditpulls DB:

http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?app=creditpulls

Barclays tends to be the most forgiving of the prime banks. Be sure to call immediately for recon if you don't get an instant approval.

Update:

My wife and I just recieved the cards in the mail! We are still a little confused. Which is the top tier card? We have the Platinum, with the $89 AF.

Another question;

We are also curious if anyone has ever called for a CLI upon activation? According to the letter that came with the card, it states the FICO score was 661 at time of approval (4/14/2014). When we created a log in to activate the card we clicked on FICO score, and the FICO score now shows 713 as of 4/21/14. Any chance of obtaining a CLI?

I think your odds are better than 50-50. Give them a call, but call the back door number! Don't call regular customer service.

He'll need to put in the CLI request online, then call the backdoor. Otherwise they'll pass him off to regular CS to request the CLI, then have to call back.

Efficiency friends... :)

This goes without saying every other company is the same on this. Call cs and request a cli and if your denied, call the backdoor (if creditor has one)

The only exception I know of and add to this list if you know of any others is, "GECRB"

You can call the UW directly and ask them

For a cli and they will come back a few minutes later doing a manual review of your cr with a decision.

Tried calling for a CLI; dept closed. We were however redirected to answer a few questions...hmmm. This very nice and courteous lady came on the line and asked why we had applied for two other accounts on the same day as this card. The wife answered the truth; we plan to quit using/possibly canceliing a Discover and Cap 1 account so we are looking for more rewarding/top tier cards. She answered ok, makes sense. She did mention that she would be placing a "watch" on the account until Barclay can determine our spending habits. Wow! By the way, my wife has over 60k in CL, with only 2k charged. She only has 4-5 INQ on TU. So, we have no fear if they keep an eye on us, just seems a little invasive.

Is this new? I've always just called the backdoor number for recon or for a CLI.

Neat-O! Approved for the PW but only for $5k. Currently have the BC Apple with a $7.5k limit (0% util) that's coming up on a year old, my highest card is $15k, $48k total avail (well, now $53k) and only 18% util overall. TU FICO is 697 - wondering if it's worth a call to attempt a CLI on Monday? I have about $8k that I could BT and PIF for the miles...

Always recon, even if you are happy with your limit.

Also, you can re-allocate from the Apple card in all likelihood.

Yeah, I tried phone based CLI maybe a year ago and was told I'd need to be transferred to CS to make the request because they needed to have an app/CLI request to start from. Wasn't going to do it, so called back a couple of more times and got the same answer.

I guess by that time I'd already giving up on Barclays giving me enough credit on any of my three cards to fill up my car twice without a PIF in between. :P Cheap ba$tards.

Well, that didn't so so well. No interest on BC's behalf to increase the limit and went on to state that I had IIB'd the same card many years ago and that typically they won't re-extend those cards to the same folks in the future, "but curiously enough, they decided to approve you for it again - not ever seen that happen." It didn't sound very complimentary...

He wrapped up with the standard knowledge bits about heavy utilization and repayment over the next 6 months for favorable CL review, etc. etc.

They would only move $2,500 of the Apple credit limit which I accepted so I have a little more wiggle room on purchases without annihilating utilization. We'll see how it goes for now.

  • 3 months later...

Any speculation as to whether or not Barclays will continue to issue this card after the merger or if just the current cards will be grandfathered in? I'm guessing that Citi would fight against it.

From what I understand, the current cards will be grandfathered in, but no new cards.

  • 2 months later...

tickets must be purchased by 7/31/15 and travel complete 10/31/15 for the voucher.

The DW and I were talking about this a few hours ago.

We both got the cards so we are planning two quick getaways and it should only cost us around $200 in airfare

Are you talking about using the companion certificates?
