Hopefully they come up with a better design!

OMG tell me about it. I wonder how similar it will be to the Citi card… I'm fine with that one.

The US card is so ugly.

They stole the design for this card from an old Braniff brochure, and airbrushed the US Air colors and logo on top.

This is one of the fugliest cards I have.

Looking forward to the 50k free miles... nice living close-ish to Miami... lot's of good places in the Caribbean to see.

First class all the way!!

We're thinking Coast Rica after we move to So Cal next month. Maybe go in Oct.

Why did I think you were moving to Seattle?

Yeah this card was beaten twice with the ugly stick but I love the miles. It sleeps in the back of the wallet.

I've had mine for 5 months now and I'm going to start using the crap out of it for the next month or so, that way I can show a lot of utilization before apping for a second one. Then I'll go for a CLI on the first one right after I hang up the phone with recon for the second one. It only has a 4k CL right now.

You are correct. We were going to move back to seattle but we changed our mind. Our family has a couple of houses and townhouses down in Redondo Beach that we can stay at until we get our new place so it will be an easier transition. Plus were sick of the cold after this crazy winter in Chicago and being in Alaska before that. It's snowing in Chicago right now.

Wise move. Seattle is an okay place if you like mold and mildew, or if you enjoy drippy, sunless skies that tip your emotional equilibrium the same way as a funeral dirge does. Also, the humidity and rain always wilt my permanent, which is awkward.

I can personally vouch for Southern California. Enjoy, and welcome! Here's to a million good hair days for your wife! :good:

We decided to go ahead and app for the Barclay card. We recieved this about several hours after applying (we werent instantly approved).

CHECK APPLICATION STATUS

Congratulations! On 04/15/2014 you were approved for the
US Airways Platinum MasterCard with a Credit Line of $4,000.00

You'll receive your card, pin, and cardmember agreement within the next 10 days.

How do I know if this is the card that could potentially pay up to 50k bonus miles, and not the card that could potentially pay up to 25k miles? Our lowest limit cards (between my wife and I) are 1800 and 2500 from our starter cards years ago. My point is, I was shocked at the low limit.

Sweet. Congrats. I also started out with a $4k CL. I believe they are a little conservative in the beginning unless you have an 800 or monster lines already. If you used the link at the beginning of this thread you should get the initial 40k. The remaining 10k would have to come from a BF.

How much is the AF? $49 or $89... if it's $49, you only get the 25k.

Just guessing based on the credit line, it's probably not the Premier World version.

Just a word of caution: the fees added to the $99 companion pass totaled almost $50 when we used one of ours last weekend, so think of these as $150 companion passes, and NOT $99 passes. Also note: You have to make the reservations BY PHONE.

We still saved money, though... the total for our two tickets using the companion pass (including all fees for both tickets) was $856 for our recent trip (two tickets between the same city pairs on that cattle-car S****w**t would have been over $1,100).

Also note that in order to use the certificate you have to book the reservation at least 14 days in advance, AND you have to mail in the certificate, which created a little angst for me as you never know if the USPS is actually going to show up at the other end with your envelope. As far as I can tell, the only way to know if US Airways received the certificate is when they actually let you check in for the flight. This is a sloppy process fraught with potential errors.

Your US Airways Dividend Miles World MasterCard includes:

- Annual companion certificate good for up to 2 companion tickets at $99 each, plus taxes and fees

- Award travel starting at just 20,000 miles – that's 5,000 less miles for Cardmembers

- One complimentary US Airways Club® pass annually

My email from yesterday, as well. I had the non World version and decided to bite the bullet so I could grab the 50k miles. I'm thinking you got the $49 AF version, but still could be wrong.

The companion pass is only worth the hassle for longer flights.

This is the link from their site. The Premier World card ($89AF) is the one on top and the regular World card ($49) is the bottom link. If you app for the Premier World card and you don't have a super credit report, they will send you a card that says Platinum at the top right of the card. The Platinum is not the $49AF fee card. You still get the same benefits for the most part and you still pay the $89AF. I haven't been able to find the difference in benefits between the PW and the Platinum cards. I would consider not applying for the PW if you are below 680 FICO and no recent C/Os.

NOTE to ALL: Don't apply with this link unless you want less miles (30-40k). If you want the (40-50K) miles use the link at the beginning of this thread. This link does not waive the AF in the first year for the PW so don't use this link unless your credit is not great and you want to go for the regular World card with the $49AF.
