What personal info did you include in your letters? Do they require SSN, ID or utility bill?

ARS (and maybe IDA) specifically requested a copy of my DL/ID; the letter included my full name, address, DOB and SSN. I didn't include any copies of my social sec card or a utility bill.

Thanks. I was thinking about doing this a while back when I read something about this. I think it's time to move forward.

For most people, this is a waste of time.

So they're a CRA...but not a CRA when it comes to being able to request things be corrected?

yes, you can dispute with them.

I got my file and disputed with them already.

Yup. Sounds like just about exactly the bile they would try to say to you..

For most people (excluding peeps on CB), this is a waste of time.

May I ask why freezing them would be a waste of time?

I took this to mean that "normal people" (whatever that looks like) would never have any need to do this...but I like to think of this as a place where credit junkies (such as myself) can hang out and not be judged -- a place where folks "understand me."

IOW...you aren't included in "most people"...probably no one on this thread would qualify for "most people", in this context.

There's a marked difference between being judged for being a CJ and being judged for being a smart@$$...however, you carry both crosses with aplomb.

:D

Funniest part of that thread is that I wasn't being a smart flowers and gave solid advice for a change. :P

True...but where were you last night when I needed you to back me up on this astute observation...?

Okay I'm firing off my freeze letters. Can't have them lurking and trying to disrupt my *evil* plans... eh, I can't make it sound like it does in my head... probably because there is no sound... but anyway, letter is being sent today!

also IDA fax number

(858) 312-6275

I just faxed out requests to both for both my wife and me.

Fax won't connect for me... Sigh..

858 is a San Diego area code. Fax it to me and I can drop it off when I'm back home on Friday. :D

I froze my ARS (ICS) & IDA (SageStream) recently and was wondering if there are any other similar stealth "bureaus" I should consider freezing. Is Lakeside separate from ARS? What about Amex and Discover, what do they use (since Issuers' Clearinghouse Service is for Visa and MasterCard)?... Any help is greatly appreciated!
