Question for the pros: I pulled EX from myFICO, and I was surprised by something I saw in the “Why You Have Jacked-Up Digits” section. In raw numbers, I have 7 HPs, 4 of which are technically in the past 12 months. But since EX likes to treat those like milk that it wants to squeeze an extra 2 weeks from the “Best If Used By” date, I was expecting it to say that 5 are hurting me. I was surprised to see it only mention 3. The one that was conspicuously missing from the list…? The 4-month-old Amex HP for a corporate AU card.

Now I may be late to the party, but I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere that FICO ignores these inquiries. Are these HPs entered with FICO-neutral coding…??

25. Liability Options: Unauthorized Use is a use that (i) did not benefit either Company or the Card Member and (ii) was incurred by someone who did not have authority to use the Card. Protection requires that charges are issued with corresponding physical plastic and in the actual name of an individual Card Member. Company shall be liable for all Charges incurred from the date a Card Member is terminated through the date that Amex receives notification from Company of such termination.

Combined Liability: Client and the Card Member are jointly liable for all charges incurred by the Card Member (except cash advance which are Full Corporate Liability). The client is responsible for reimbursing Card Member for business expenses. The client will not be liable for charges incurred by the Card Member that are personal in nature and which do not benefit the client for legitimate business purposes, or for which company has reimbursed the Card Member.

Full Corporate Liability: Available only for central billing and/or cash advance programs. With Full Corporate Liability, the client is liable for payment of all charges. American Express will bill the client directly for all charges.

I don't pay that much attention to the reasons section,

but it's possible that that HP was coded differently.

Even at 4 months, I bet the actual score effect is tiny.

Gotcha. I was just wondering if it was a quirk you'd heard of...or perhaps a glitch.

I have an itchy app finger...so I'm obsessing, when I need to be sitting on my hands another few weeks, at MINIMUM...or 7 months, to really maximize my plan. Ugh.

I was at the Subway inside of my local Walmart, buying a $10 ham sandwich with my Discover card, on the way to the post office to mail a return back to Kohl's before my new Dockers arrive from JC Penney.

Hope you didn't run into a snafu...if you'd missed the post office cut-off time, you'd have been fubar.

Don't forget the half...as if ONE b!tch weren't enough...am I right or am I right? ( I'm considering punching myself in the face for this whole post.)

Don't waste any more time considering. No time like the present! :P

Since this is "my thread" (okay, not really, since my badge doesn't include "Site Owner"...but I digress) I really feel the need to add this:

:offtopic:

Do you ever read the title of a thread and kinda know what is being asked, but your knee-jerk reaction is to ask no one in particular...out loud, "Wait............what...?" :search:

This is why I diverted the conversation to bad discount stores, bad credit cards and bad pants.

Say what you will about W*****t...but I'll have to ask you to be respectful when speaking of JCPenney. You've obviously never had to dress a window with insulated panels, dear friend. :beee:

Technically this is not a true statement, since I do have lined panels of fabric flanking several of the windows in my house, but technically I didn't "dress them" myself. I had a decorator pick out the fabric and they were custom made. Cost a bloody fortune.

Also, by "bad discount store" I was referring mainly to Kohl's, where they sell $3 merchandise marked up to $50, and then they have multiple layers of sales, discounts, coupons and "Kohl's cash" that together bring the final price down to about $5. Something about that store and all of the discounts make people willing - hell, eager - to spend $5 on a $3 sweater that will completely disintegrate upon contact with human skin.

I tossed in JC Penney as a wild card. The sad truth about JC Penney is that they had almost transformed the place into a pleasant place to shop, but in so doing their core customers left in droves for places that were still willing to demean their intelligence with coupons to trade in for fake savings.
