The Everyday and Everyday Preferred cards are now up on the AMEX site and accepting applications. It looks like these will be a pretty good cards since Membership Rewards Points is one of the better deals out there when it comes to rewards, especially with the bonus points and extra supermarket points. This is their first revolver(s) that use Membership Reward Points. I have not applied for it as I'm good on cards right now.

American Express Everyday Credit Card

  • Annual fee: $0
  • Sign-up bonus: 10,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $1,000 within 90 days
  • Earnings rates: 2x Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at U.S. supermarkets, for up to $6,000 per year of spend; 1x Membership Rewards point per dollar spent on everything else
  • Spending bonus: If you use the card to make 20 or more purchases during a billing cycle you earn 20% extra points on all those purchases

American Express Everyday Preferred Credit Card

  • Annual fee: $95
  • Sign-up bonus: 15,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $1,000 within 90 days
  • Earnings rates: 3x Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at U.S. supermarkets, for up to $6,000 per year of spend; 2x Membership Rewards points per dollar at U.S. standalone gas stations; 1x Membership Rewards point per dollar spent on everything else
  • Spending bonus: If you use the card to make 30 or more purchases during a billing cycle you earn 50% extra points on all those purchases

Review of the cards:

Looks like it comes with an EMV but there is still a 2.7% foreign transaction fee.

Both come with 0% interest for 15 months.

They also have 0% interest on BTs for 15 months, but there is a 3% transfer fee.

Not sure how the preferred version is better than the BCP, which has 6% groceries, 3% gas. Unless, of course, you put everything on that card, and reach the 30/month 50% bonus.

I like the BCP better myself.

I have BCE, but would much rather PC to BCP than apply for this card. 30 swipes is a lot for most people (especially when spreading charges across several cards for rewards purposes).

Why would someone pay an AF for a 1-2-3 card? There are plenty of 1-2-3 cards without any AF. Heck, credit unions like LMCU also offer these cards.

I think it's just an attempt to match the CSP as the review mentioned.

I wouldn't want to be forced to use it 30 times a month either, especially since I might want to use a mix of cards to maximize points or cash back, depending on what I'm buying or where I'm using it.

The point transfer possibilities using CSP are far superior than this card (IMHO). Also, Amex Everyday seems like it's being marketed to busy moms - not savvy travelers, etc. I don't see a direct competition.

Because it's really a 2-4-6 card, since MR points are worth ~2+ cents each, unless you insist on using the points for gift cards or statement credit, at which point you deserve a 1-2-3 payback.

I think it will appeal to people because of the flexibility of using MR points and their value. However, I think it encourages spending to get to the bonus each month. Good for AMEX but not so good for consumers caught up in the bonus each month.
