After getting another four statements, my DW asked for a CLI on her Wal-Mart discover card and was raised from $5,800 to $6,000. Further, I had to wait five months this time as at four months they declined with:

We apologize for the inconvenience, but we cannot process a credit limit increase online for this account.

Previously, she had gone from $2,800 -> $3.300 -> $5,800.

Any ideas on why the small CLI? She does have one card at 100% Util, but I don't think that was showing, unless they soft pull at the point of application. Her FICO was at 709 on TU before the Utilization went to 100% on one card, overall she is at around 30%. Is there some magic threshold at $6K? Her NFCU cards are at $50K and $22K.

Can I try again now?

we've been over this.

wait 4 months between requests.

Didn't you just say a few posts back that there is no minimum timeframe?

He did say that and he also said in the past that is was 4 months. That's the only reason I asked my question.

I just want to know which one it is because I requested CLIs recently, but apparently through the wrong #.

Was it through a UW or through customer service?

Through a number I found here that I thought was an UW, but I guess is customer service.

there is no minimum timeframe according to them.

however, they track CLI requests and have been known to shut down all your cards if you ask for them too often.

so 4 months is recommended.

the reason I told Menta to call and ask now is because he's never called. hitting the luv button doesn't really count.

WCH just called 2 weeks ago and was declined. personally I wouldn't call again for 4 months.

Well, I called anyway. Denied. TU is my worst FICO so I'm going to stick with the luv button every 4 months until I'm in the 700s.

For the record, when I called (866) 246-4282 I was told that I needed to be transferred to customer service to process the request. I was excited because I thought I had just been calling the wrong number.

I'm pretty sure I call the number from post one in this thread when I call GECRB.

and the direct number to a Walmart GECRB senior underwriter is 877-379-8175.

I used the number from this post:

the proper Walmart recon line is 866-246-4282 I found in another thread.

the other listed numbers are just regular numbers.

this one gets you straight to a CSR 24/7.

Let me just say to always ask for 25k. Don't be shy. They will counter. Don't feel like you are asking for too much. They will counter. Don't ask for less. They will counter.

.

.

.

Or they will give you 25k....

Just use the card marginally every month and pay it off. After the 4th statement call the UW's number and ask for 25k....
