mendelssohn, I've been curious about this for a while. Have your FICO scores not increased at all? With all your progress, they haven't budgeted, or you just not updating your signature?

No, they have not changed. TU is clean except for old Santander car loan lates. EX has more derogatory student loan accounts reporting than EQ, but they both have quite a few late payments past 90 days reporting that led up to default status. Until those are gone, my EX and EQ scores are not really going to budge.

My Amex Platinum came this morning. I registered AA as my airline and made 2 different transactions for $100 each to get the $200 airline credit. I finished the $3K spend this afternoon, so now I'm just waiting for the 100K MR points to post.

I just closed my Amex BGR. It was a churn and burn card for the 75K MR points bonus which seemed incredible to me at the time, although I have since gotten approved for personal and business Platinum cards with 150K and 100K bonuses. 75K was still worth it and well beyond the typical signup bonus you would get with other issuers. I will definitely app for this card again.

My Current Tradelines:

$xx,xxx Amex Platinum (8/15)

$xx,xxx Amex Premier Rewards Gold (2/14->2/92)

$30,000 Barclays Miles & More MC (10/14)
$25,000 Fidelity Amex (11/14)

$19,000 Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa (7/14)
$15,000 NFCU CLOC (6/13)
$13,500 Discover it (2/14)

$10,000 Cap One Quicksilver Visa (3/12)

$9,000 Amex Starwood Preferred Guest (9/14->9/92)

$8,500 Citi AAdvantage Exec MC (7/15)

Your success is really impressive - you are my after-SL-default hero. Based on your experiences (and those of a few others on CB), I'm trying to make good choices for rebuilding. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! :)

It would be dishonest to say that it has been easy. It hasn't. Knowing that you are living with long term negatives that will keep you from prime credit for several years can be depressing. The best advice I could give at this point is to stay focused and plan carefully. When the long term negatives are finally gone, you will be left with a solid portfolio of prime cards with decent limits and really solid reports.

I think it's also important to point out that you can get approved for prime cards with decent limits with sub prime scores if you rebuild the right way. UWs will overlook the long term negatives if your profile is otherwise very solid.

That's what I'm hoping for! Steady, disciplined approach, but I am so impatient - it is a challenge for sure. Congrats on your continued success.

The one thing I have learned from these great teachers, is that if I rush into an app rather than planning ahead, I get much less than if I wait until I am ready. Patience are for doctors... but I think I am going to medical school.

Today is also 6 months for Cap1, so I figured I would check to see what was available online. They only offered me $500, so I sent a letter to the EO. I may try to call in a little bit and see if I can get in touch with someone.

Mendel, is the letter you sent to the EO a standard letter available? Did you send it through the website or a direct email? Do you mind sharing what you included in the letter? PM is fine if needed. Thanks!

I sent this email and left my name and phone number:

I would like a credit limit increase on my Quicksilver card, and
am only being offered an increase from $7500 to $8000 online.
This is an insult since I have limits on other cards as high as $35000.
Please at least make some attempt to increase my limit to something usable.

Don't make your email too long because they are still going to call you and ask for all of the information anyway.
