I signed up as well. I did use my Redcard just before the time period that Target said that was when the account information was released. I wasn't that worried though since it was just my store card that I used.

I am unsure how they are monitoring it. The only information that they ask is for your full name and email address. They could check for those who have Target cards but don't know how they check for those who used other credit/debit cards?

I signed up for me and my wife. Neither of us have red cards, but both of us used different cards during that time. I have already received the codes and signed myself up.

just got this email from them.

Target learned in mid-December that criminals forced their way into our systems and took guest information, including debit and credit card data.

nice PR spin to deflect any blame from their obviously lax security.

My DW goes to Target 2 to 3 times per week since I made her AU on my Target Visa, which is all we use to pay there (5% off! with monthly PIF) except for pharmacy, which we use our HSA. HSA administrator already sent me new cards since as quoted in their letter "You used your HSA at Target, so here's your new HSA debit card"

Target had to do something but its like closing the barn door AFTER the horse got out.

I really don't think it matters if you have a red card or not for this. The breach seems to be going much further than just cards swiped on those days. It appears that they have taken their entire customer database so if you have ever given them your info like buying something online or whatnot you may be susceptible.

we had barclays just send us two new cards becuase we used them there...no issues with fraud charges but i like Barclays quick response...maybe Target should take notice...

I bought an ipad for thanksgiving at Target, I feel bad now.. its not worth getting $100 discount, they let hackers get all the information. I have my credit cards replaced by discover, amex and bofa. I have to change all my bill pays using those cards. Thats pain and not worth $100.

Where else did you shop over christmas?

This breach doesn't stop with Target and NM, as it's not over yet. And there were breaches before this one. Hackers have had your info long before this time but they may not have acted on it.

My point, not sure why some are surprised at this and are so quick to jump all over Target (well, I really do know why but that's another topic) for it this time.

I thought hackers got information only for holiday shoppers, I usually shop at target for day to day needs. So far nothing stolen from my cards.. but never know

It isn't about the cards anymore. Here is my thread I started http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=522643 I just confirmed with the bank they did not sell the info and another friend had this same thing happen. After posting a warning I posted on Facebook it looks like a dozen or so of my friends have had this happen, all as a direct result of the Target breach. Now they are selling your personal info just so they can try and collect more money out of you. Ugh........

BTW, I still have not gotten my email to validate or activate my credit monitoring. Do you think I did something wrong?
