I have over 20 inquiries on my credit file, is it imperative that I have those deleted to increase my score? I am trying to get a 750 score on all 3 bureaus, I'm currently at 623

you're talking FICO in the subject but EQ FAKO scores. FICO != FAKO.

 

however, the bigger fish are derogs like late payments, CO, CA, etc. you don't end up with a 623 with a clean report and 20 inqs.

Here is a screenshot from Equifax site. Note that "number of inquiries" isn't specifically listed as one of the largest factors in how a credit score is calculated. It's probably factored in with the impact of "new credit", but it's only part of that.

 

Yes, they cost you a little, but the bigger fish I mention must be in one or more of the other categories (hint: above "new credit").
