Getting fed up with the my fico forum.

Got warned once because I showed the "backdoor" links to CB's that are on flyertalk. I guess discussing how to get your CR for free by disputing is not allowed there.

Got warned as my "last chance" because I was talking about using my neighbors address on the shopping cart trick. Reason was "illegal use of one's personal information".

Last time I checked, a phone book listing is not personal info, it's public, and it's not like I'm using someones info to get credit. Credit Card Companies run people's info all the time without their consent to generate pre-approval offers, but I guess that's different according to them.

Then someone was on there talking about how one credit card pre-approval site gives you a credit score for free, and a mod says:

submitting' an app with no intention of going through with the process for the purpose of receiving a free credit score is frowned upon at myFICO.

Seems like a typical day on there is like this:

A: I got approved for a $3,000 Amex BCE Card

Persons B, C, D, and E get a boner at the approval.

in whose best interest it is to get sheep to spend $30 a month pulling their reports.

I own a pretty sizable forum myself in the firearms field, and there is a lot to be said for an independent community who does not have their own interest to peddle their crap.

Sure those forums, as others have noted, can be rather trifling. It is what is, consider your audience, take what's good from it if possible and carry on.

Nonetheless, an apparent hyper-focus on the SCT for credit building IS a slippery slope.

A few cards is plenty until profile improves, as previously noted, the time to stop app and work on the REPAIR side of rebuilding is now.

In a few months, the SCT booty may seem like training wheels on a mountain bike, it's never too early to begin thinking bigger credit picture; for stronger overall profile and app outcomes.

I didn't know it was ran by a CRA ? I don't like Myfico forums cause they give horrible advice. I don't know how many times Ive seen them say to Pay a collection and send GW letters ? Always GW letters, like any CA is going to delete a collection from a GW.

Ive also seen them even the moderators tell people if "its their debt they need to pay it and a DV won't work" Whats funny is if I type in a question on google and put creditboards.com myfico forums show up sometimes also. Credit boards is the best of all the forums

I try not to use use the word "boners" in this context. At all, really.

At a 3k limit? Like someone else recently mentioned, most people are on these forum mostly due to bad credit.

I just don't like the word "boners".

The vulgarity associated with it?

Oh, I'm a HUGE fan of vulgarity. I like tawdry, vulgar, offensive, profane. I relish uncouth. Thumbs-up to pornographic; in fact it's even better than merely indecent.

You should't say "boners" after age 12, though.
