He is hoping banks will agree to pay that cost, as well as a small fee to process transactions through Epic One, as a way to mitigate fraud.

unlikely to really catch on.

It's DOA.

As a startup investment I wouldn't give it dime one for a multitude of fairly obvious reasons.

All of these digital electronic cards are DOA. Smart phones with NFC and Bluetooth would be a better idea.

Agreed. It will be interesting to see how it plays out against chip and pin, My guess is that ultimately online purchases will require a CC and confirmation vi smart phone. At least for larger purchases. Online is the remaining vulnerability of chip and pin.

Agree. I won't bother naming reasons. It's like concept cars you see at an auto show. A batmobile type car attracts crowds to look at it, but nobody will ever be driving them.

Seems like a quick solution is pre authorizing an amount from home or a lesser amount from your smartphone. Login from home and authorize a daily limit for swipe transactions of an amount between $100-$500 or authorize for unlimited daily. Want some quick cash, jump on your smart phone and authorize an ATM release of a specific amount good for 1 hour. Use any standard ATM and only the authorized money is available.

Really don't know why they don't make chip and pin cards the standard like Europe. My gov't ID is chip and pin and works just fine. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Want to bet the banks here in the US refuse to accept the way the Europeans do things, as better or more effective. Everyone is focusing on the cost of this technology - but what does it cost compared to the losses sustained.. not just the billions of stolen money through fraud, but having to mail out 10's of thousands of new cards every 6 months. Last year I got 3 cards "replaced" because of suspected fraud, none of them having to do with the latest Target episode either...
