The Master obsolete delete time frame thread

So after reading a thread on deleting Experian address' I decided to call and try to get ride of some old address'. I was shot down multiple times. I called back for a 3rd time and asked that one of my 3 closed oc sold to another lender accounts be deleted. The man asked me to wait while he reviews, he then said I will request it be deleted for you. Cool Beans. I then call them back 20 minuets later and I got a female worker. I told her I wanted to dispute this other account, she tells me sir it is not obsolete, it will not be 7 years from the DOFD until April, we can not dispute this for you because our records show you have disputed it 4 times already. I then got asked if I had new information about it I could fax it in and they would be happy to review it for me.

After this rejection I made it my mission to keep calling until I get my last 2 OC sold removed from my reports. I called them back again after 30 minuets or so and got a guy who sounded like he was from the Philippines. I told him I wanted to dispute account XXX as obsolete, and asked me to wait while he reviewed it. He then asked me what else I wanted him to look at. I was hesitant to give him the one I just called about as I was sure she made notes in the account about me calling. I grabbed my nuts and said I also want to dispute XXX as obsolete. There was a moment or 2 of awkward silence, and then he says ok is there anything else I can do for you? We will notify you by email in 24 to 72 hours about the outcome, may I have your email.

I wake up this morning and Pull EX and my FAKO jumped from 679 to 704 and the accounts are gone. All I have left is a pesky 4 year old judgment that I refuse to pay simply because it was ASSHAT ACCPT and they got a default judgment due to me not knowing about the court date, and 2 paid judgments from 2006 that will fall off in 2 months.

I'm watching this thread. :)

Can you include what you had deleted? I'm particularly interested in whether it was an OC or JDB. I read somewhere here that the CRAs told someone that there was a difference but I haven't been able to find the thread again.

I have a bunch of things that will fall off in 6 months so I'm trying to decide when to pull the trigger.

Thanks!

Excuse me, can you please tell me what JDB stands for?

Are you asking what a JDB is? (The formatting makes it look like I was the one asking...)

JDB is junk debt buyer. Like LVNV, Asset Acceptance, Midland, Portfolio, etc. [Not the OC, "original creditor," like AMEX, BofA, etc., nor a CA (collection agency) that is collecting for the OC, but, a company that actually bought the debt.]

You have to be firm with them. Not being a sexist but I have noticed that the females tend to follow the rules, and the male employees are more laid back. I was 0-10 when calling Experian and I got a female employee over the last 2 years. Just call them and hit 1 for a dispute and punch in the file number and last for of your social, and hit 1 for a live agent. Tell them you want to dispute account xxx as it is obsolete according to your records. If they say I will request it be deleted you will get a confirmation about the results 24-72 hours you are good to go. If they say something like you have disputed this multiple times and we have verified it, its most likely not going to happen with that agent, just call back and try again. Worked for me.

I'm sure they did but the others did care. I waited 20-30 mins between calls.

Earlier this month I disputed three accounts, two were COs (HSBC), and one was CA. They were supposed to be off TU Feb and March, deleted. Last week I disputed three more, two COs and one repo. The two COs were to be off next month, the repo in June...deleted.

I called in to dispute.

Update time:

I dispute online on Jan 4th:

TU - 6 JDBs - Nothing was deleted so far according to USAA. Status of dispute shows something about "we need additional manual processing" I forget the exact wording but I searched on here and it seems to that everyone gets that message if you check dispute status right when they are generating results. I don't expect any thing good.

EX 2 JDBs, both due to fall off in April. Both lines were updated.

AA increased the "high balance by .01 cent.

Midland erased all data except dates. (Status = no status! all dollar amounts read N/a)

I tried calling EX with a slightly confused but very nice, "help me understand this" attitude. No dice. Still scheduled to fall off this April.

I've never been able to find a "obsolete" type reason to check mark on the online forms. On TU I put "no longer responsible" and then wrote in "obsolete. I did something similar on EX but I can't remember what choice I made. It seems like the dispute window has changed.

Bottom line, I don't think my method was a winner. :(

It looks like my method caused them to check with the data furnisher which is not ideal. Maybe mail is a better option.

I didn't mind trying it out since I have a few months before everything comes off.

Plan B.... Hmmmmm.

Just last week I sent all three CRA's a dispute letter for obsolete removals, but JUST realized it is NOT RECOMMENDED to send it RETURN RECEIPT. Has any one had obsoletes removed when sent CMRR?

I don't see how it could possibly matter as to the outcome of your dispute if you requested a return receipt.

Well, picture trying to pet the kitty who's tail you just lit on fire. ;)

I don't think the kitty who is in charge of running the letter-opening machine will tell the kitty who's in charge of operating the scanner that the kitty who signed for your envelope is pissed.

MEOW.

I don't think you know the kittys at the CRAs very well.

there is no option for obsolete with a CA or JDB. There is the option for the OC though. This is TU online BTW.

Woo Hoo!

I guess my pessimism got the best of me.

Just pulled USAA and 5 of the 6 JDBs are gone from TU.

The only 1 that stayed is scheduled to fall off in August.

The 5 that came off were scheduled for June and July.

WOW! Congrats!

Thanks! Actually really exciting for me this morning! :)
