Applied for the Fido Amex and got the 30 day notice. Just got my denial letter and it cites too few accounts and a score of 740.

Tough crowd there. It's not a card I particularly need right now but definitely harder than Penfed. I remember Hege talking about how much trouble he had getting it, but I thought my profile would get me there. Guess not.

Just FYI.

YMMV applies here? I got mine instant, but that was about a year ago. Don't know what my score was exactly at the time (TU FICO currently 764).

Meanwhile, I have an 8-year-old CrapOne toy card at the same old 1K limit (bonus: ratejacked a few years ago for no logical reason and they won't lower it), a former HSBC at 1.5K for the same 8 years...you would think I was 2 different people. Not alone in that, I know. It's just so nonsensical.

At least when FIA plays hard to get, it feels like something worth getting. :P Good luck in your quest.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Vanguard to offer a rewards card. Fidelity offers those cards and bank accounts to get people investing with them, Vanguard offers banking almost as an afterthought for high value clients.

My approval was not too much of a hassle from what I recall. my issue was when I asked for a CLI and FIA would only use my income not HHI.

I have not opened other banking products with Fidelity even though I have brokerage, IRAs, and employee sponsered acconts.

Maybe that was it, just remember you and FIA at one point.

I've been trying to simplify my banking by keeping most things under one roof and so far Fidelity's been pretty smooth sailing, though I wouldn't keep them as my only bank. I have an investment center right around the corner from me, but even then still maintain a local B&M account for cash needs.

Which I had to open since Citi decided to close all my local branches.

Vanguard doesn't have banking products. They might have checks available for their money market mutual fund, but that's about it.

Sure they do, it's called the VanguardAdvantage account.
