I have a few entries on EWS that I want to remove. I am very new to this. Does anyone see any possible entries with causes I could use for delation?

Thank you all for your help. I have been without a checking account way too long and am paying way too much in unnecessary fees because of it.

I dislike Chexsystems and EWS because federal law does not fully regulate their reporting. They can be vague in the way they report accounts, and all a prospective bank knows is that you were reported.

Step 1 - Find out when the accounts were closed or charged off. This tells you when the entry will fall off the report. (7 years from the close/charge off date)

Step 2 - Start a list (I usually create it in Excel) and note any inaccuracies in the entries (Account/Routing numbers, amounts, open date)

Step 3 - Dispute the entries with no closing date (shown in blue) as "inaccurate information". Always keep disputes short and simple.

Are these all closed accounts? If so, what date was each one closed?

Bank of America California

1) There is no account close or charge-off date.
2) No reason listed why the account was added to EWS.

Bank of America Pennsylvania

1) No closing or charge-off date listed.
2) What is the amount owed when the account was closed or charged off?

TDBanknorth

1) No closing or charge-off date listed.

2) **What is the reason the three entries were added to EWS?

USAA

1) Shows a Closing Date. Is that accurate?

Thank you for the reply.

These are all closed accounts. Where I have marked XXX or REDACTED private information was removed. Otherwise the report is untouched.

Bank of America Penn

I have no idea what the closing balance was.

What does Closed- Purged mean?

TD Bank showed either be reporting as Paid or delated because I did pay it in full.

USAA is accurate.

There are never any guarantees when you dispute, but here is what I was do:

1. I would contact each bank and try to get something in writing showing the date the account was (1) closed/charged off, (2) amount owed and (3) reason for closing. When I was troubleshooting my own Chexsystems information, I got the bank to fax a one-page letter on their letterhead with this information. I told them I had some information in a report I did not recognize as mine, and wanted to research what they had.

Note: This takes a little phone leg work, (or an in-person visit, if possible) but it helps compare the information that is on EWS, versus what the bank faxes. If they say that are unable to locate the account or any information, ask them to fax a letter stating that. The goal is to look for any error or discrepancy you can dispute and use as a basis for removal. I got a Chexsystems entry removed because of a bank merger, and the bank was unable to locate the account. Chexsystems could not verify information I disputed if the bank could not locate the account.

2. Send basic dispute letters to EWS challenging the information. Keep it short and sweet, stating that the information is inaccurate and should be removed. Since you have multiple entries, I would start off with the entries that have no reason for closing or a charge-off date.

3. Wait for the responses from EWS. They have 30 days to respond, unless you got the information from a free annual report. In that instance, it is extended to 45 days. The next step depends on the results of the disputes.

I got their reply. They states TD Banknorth has confirmed that the reported information is accurate.

They did not address specific information not being reported or reported inaccurately. It was a blanket letter.

Disputing is essentially paper tennis, and there are no guarantees information will be removed.
If you have a clearly documented bank mistake or error, there is a better chance for removal.

Next steps if EWS "verified" your disputed entry:

1. Send a procedural request letter to EWS.

You are challenging the verification by asking them to tell you how they verified.

The FCRA requires them to respond in 15 days telling you how they verified the information.

2. Send a 623 letter to the bank.

You are challenging the verification by asking the bank to "double check" what they sent to EWS.

The FCRA requires them to respond in 30 days telling you why they verified the information as accurate.

The objective is to get a FCRA violation, mistake or non-response as a basis for removal.

3. Bargain with a bank manager or executive for removal, if possible.
