For those that don't scan multiple travel blogs or places like Flyer Talk on a daily (or regular) basis, I'm starting a running thread on great credit card signup bonuses.

Please post deals you find, for other CBers to benefit.

What are those Hilton points valued at on average?

On that Freedom note, I think the CSP/Inks should always be on this page. Until they knock down the sign up bonus.

0.5 cents each is my rule of thumb for Hilton points, but it really depends a lot on the redemption you choose.

Here's a recent real-life redemption of ours at the Doubletree Suites/Times Square next May.

I redeemed 80,000 points/night for a room like this. The rate shown below is from hilton.com for the same dates of our stay. You need to add roughly 18% for taxes for rooms in NYC (so this room at $449 is about $529/night, all in), which makes this particular redemption worth about 0.66 cents/point.

PS: My Hilton Gold status (came with the card) will hopefully get us a better room, but we'll see. This is my first year as a Hilton Gold.

50k BOA Alaska Airlines Visa Signature:

https://www.applyonlinenow.com/USCCapp/Ctl/entry?sc=VAB3E8#b

25k on approval. Additional 25k with $1k spend within first 90 days.

I saw that... I'm waiting for Experian to re-freeze, then I just might have to try for one of these. :D

Yeah I jumped on a 30k offer during my last AOR. Sounds difficult to get a 2nd approval within 12 months otherwise I'd go for this one.

So, there is no Alaska Airlines where I live.. How would someone dispose of those points?

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Alaska partners with a ton of decent airlines; British Airways, Qantas, American, Delta to name a few so the flight is marketed as Alaska Airlines, but operated by one of their partners.

I really like the Barclay Arrival World MC. Might be my next card.

http://www.barclaycardarrival.com/premium-travel/enjoy-rich-rewards/

The card that gives you more starts with 40,000 bonus miles when you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days (that equates to $400 off your next travel redemption)

  • Earn 2X miles on all purchases with no caps
  • Earn bonus miles in the first 90 days of account opening
  • Enjoy a 0% introductory APR on purchases for the first 12 months afteraccount opening – after that, a variable APR, currently 14.99% or 18.99%,based on your creditworthiness3
  • Book any airline, any time with no blackout dates or seat restrictions
  • Redeem for all types of travel rewards Choose to redeem for all or a portion of your travel purchases, starting at just 2,500 miles
  • Get 10% miles back when you redeem for travel (i.e. redeem 25,000 miles for travel and get 2,500 miles back)
  • No foreign transaction fees1
  • Complimentary TripIt© Pro mobile travel organizer subscription ($49 annual value)

I think it's important to note that one "mile" from Barclays isn't worth the same as an airline mile.

It doesn't make this a bad offer; to the contrary, $400 is a better than decent as far as signup bonuses are concerned. 40,000 American Airlines miles, though, would buy you almost two domestic tickets anywhere they fly (or nearly one First Class domestic ticket) if you plan ahead. Both of these redemptions would conservatively be worth at least twice as much.

BYW, I just started using TripIt (Standard, not Pro) and I really like it so far. It's really convenient just to forward all of your travel confirmation emails one at a time as you complete reservations various places, and let TripIt organize them for you into something useful and meaningful - all in one consolidated itinerary per trip.

The 50K sign-up bonus for the BofA Alaska Airlines card is rather tempting. I'm going to have to apply in the morning.

Any way to churn or get even more? LOL I'm greedy.

You ARE greedy, and I revere you for it.

I think B of A issues that card, right? The Spouse and I are trying to get our names reversed as account owners on our new B of A accounts, and they haven't been able to pull that off since last Thursday. I'm guessing that churning a couple of Alaska cards would escape their scrutiny, unless their credit card division has their #$%^& together more than the bank does. :P

I went to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card today, to get the 50,000 UR point signup bonus. I was half relieved to find out that the online offer has disappeared. Rumor has it you can still get the offer if you call in, but I'm too lazy to call. :D

Very true. The $400 was what I noticed was better than many of the others that I have seen that basically just give you discounts on fares instead of actual miles.

IME their credit department has their $hit together. I was only approved after a recon request because of many new accounts with other lenders this year. Word from FT is 12 months is the wait time to successfully churn this one.
