Okay, I did an app spree OCT 31 and NOV 1st. During that time, I received double digit credit limits on 4 new credit cards. So, I figured, why not request a CLI on the one Capital One card that I already have. Going through the normal customer service was a joke, as they used my credit report from 2 months prior through an automated program and declined my request. I ended up going through the Capital One Executive Office and requested a $12K limit (up from $550). They asked if I would accept a partial approval. PAUSE. At this point, I'm thinking, they may do $10K or even $5K, so I say Yes. PLAY. It took them 2 weeks to get back to me with an approval for $1500 on a 754 FICO score...WTF!!!??? So, perhaps my advice would be, if you are confident that you should get what you ask for, don't agree to accept a partial approval. Who knows, they may have approved more.

What other cards/limits do you have? They didn't even blink at my request to go to $10k... But I have plenty of other lines to back that type of limit up.

For Cap-1 a 550 to 12K is a hard one to swallow unless you already have significant other lines at that level. I have found that Cap-1 likes to be in the middle of all my cards with their limit. I would use the next 6 months to raise your limits on your other cards and then go for another Cap-1 increase.

AMEX Gold- No Limit

USAA AMEX- $16K

USAA MC- $16K

Chase Sapphire Preferred- $12K

Citi Gold AAdvantage World MasterCard- $12K

Of course, none of these had been posted to my Credit Reports by the time I requested the CLI with Cap One. Good info, thanks!

Yeah, that may have helped.

Hmmm... for the record I had my Cap 1 card go from $500 ----> $10k through the EO, this was back in January and I had several other cards between 8k-13k reporting, so I am guessing they try to match your average creditline. I requested $10k and got it with no questions asked. Next I went through the EO for my 2nd card which was stuck at $700 and got that one CLI to $5,000 (they wouldn't give me the full $10k I was asking for) but i'll take it.

BTW: got my Platinum card CLI to $10k, then 2 months later got 0% BT offers in the mail, then 2 months later I got an invitation to upgrade to no AF Venture Card with World M/C Benefits and no hard pull! At least for me. They impressed me with the whole process as I was not expecting such good results with Cap1.

Earlier this year after getting declined for every CLI request since shortly after the Earth cooled, I contacted the Capital EO via email, and six weeks later I got a phone call.

In the end they bumped my limit from $1,750 to $5,000. Prior to the increase I already had seven other cards reporting a higher limit than on my Capital One (highest other card at the time was $13,000).

The also refunded my annual fee for one year only, and refused to do a PC.

My reports were clean, my scores were in the 740s and I had < 5% utilization.

I called them today and got the exact same response. she said they don't have the ability to do a PC right now, but "they're working on it", whatever that means. sucks because the Platinum card is worthless and getting a Quicksilver card with no hard and 8 years of age would be pretty sweet.

she also refunded AF this year, but said I would have to call again next year to get it refunded again. they can't remove it permanently.

I have 2 cards with them. asked for CLI 700->10k on one, 7800->15k on the other. asked if I would accept partial increase on either and I said no. we'll see what they come back with.

It served its purpose for a while, but talk about not growing with you....

no, but it's only been 4 days and one of them was Christmas. she said it could take a couple of weeks.

Logged in today and found both CLIs went through without a hitch. Stoked!

Very nice. Surprised they did this on a Saturday. How many CLI now have you done in the past 3 months? Were you maxing them out in the process and PIF?

it was likely done Friday after I looked in the morning. I've now requested and gotten CLIs on every account I had in the last month. usage-wise it's across the board. some were used and paid, others haven't been used in a long time.
