Picked up the mail today and didn't get the bi-weekly Discover solicitation. Instead there was this giant, stiff, black card app. Visa Black Card has a new marketing gimmick. It now comes in "Stainless Steel" unlike those stain prone Palladium and Titanium wannabes.

$500 AF.

Couldn't stop laughing.

I've seen the ad on TV. Some card issuers try to portray their card as something that is held by jet setting corporate tycoons or celebrities to rake in the annual fees. My free cards work just as well at McDonald's as that one. Flashing around some card made of steel isn't a way to impress.

My plastic cards avoid stains too, plus won't rust. :)

I went to the website and it got me laughing. You totally took out the part about the back being carbon. CARBON and stainless steel. Wow. Well if that isn't a reason to spend $450 on fees..

But the part that got me was the exclusive members only subscription to Black Card magazine. That is what got me laughing...

Carbon (aka coal) is what Santa brought if you weren't "good." The Black Card was originally made with carbon. The carbon rebranding wasn't going so well I guess so they added "Stainless Steel."

I think they need to get a new Marketing Exec.

It was made with carbon? Carbon can be very soft and sometimes bend-y.

Well I don't know about the new marketing exec? I mean they got us to look at it right? I mean -- sure we looked just to get a laugh -- but we did look at right?

Okay you're right - marketing is not doing so good.

Lol, in the fine print at the bottom of the website "Visa Black Card is issued by Barclays Bank Delaware" so likely a TU pull. Not sure what type of FICO is required?

Yes They pull from TU or EX (call the reckon number to talk to A credit analysts they'll pull from EXP for you)

The FICO score needed is 770+ with low balance's and good CREDIT CARD history

You need to make $90k+ A year also they may ask you for A financial statement

It's A easy card to get if you meet the requirements.

They denied me because I didn't have long enough credit card history even doe my scores is in the 800s thanks to a few paid off installment loans and A few AU's.

I'm going to try again next year I never really cared for credit cards until this year so I been building my file this year

. A friend of mines that told me about this card got it and loves it.

They will start you off with A $5,000 limit that you have to build on to become unlimited.

Good Luck to whoever try to get this card

They seriously need to find a new angle to promote this white elephant of a black card.

Go to the Web site and on the first page they tell you not once, not twice, not three times, but FOUR TIMES that this ridiculous thing is made of stainless steel. That basically tells you that there is no other story to tell... no other reason to have this card.

What a stupid, useless product without a market.

My fingers are too sensitive for rust from a stainless piece of steel that I had to pay for every year at that price. That's not prestige, that's pure nonsense. Buy gold or add to a good portfolio. That's prestige.

Good stainless steel does not rust.

I would still not pay 500 per year for it. IMHO just not prestigious, investments are....
