Which tells me they’re looking for new credit card customers.

I think the rep offered me 12 months 0% on purchases & BTs.

But, I wasn’t really interested, so I wasn’t paying attention.

I can only recall AmEx & Citi offering me cards on a cold call.

So, if you’ve ever wanted a BBVA Visa,

This may be the time to go for it.

I'd be interested if I could get an NBA branded Rewards card from them...say with the Lakers, Clips, Bulls or Knicks logo...not interested in setting up a checking account with them to get a branded debit card...maybe they'll set that up down the road...that would be the one card I wouldn't put on my Coin...

Why would you get a card because it has an NBA team's logo?

Well, I follow the NBA pretty closely...have the Game Time app on my phone...watch games on my phone...get alerts...the whole gamut...so to me...an NBA branded card would be pretty neat...kinda like the cards that have NFL team logos...or MLB team logos...in any event...that would be the reason...of course rewards would be nice...but not a deal breaker as I have many other rewards/siggy cards...

I see. Well, for me a logo isn't a sufficient enough "reward" to have a card. You could always print a logo from your favorite team and tape it to, say, a Sallie Mae MasterCard or an Amex Platinum.

@dbwcredit: I did apply online for the Clearpoints card. They took about 4 days to approve, then they sent me an email saying so. I called to follow up because the email did not specify the credit limit or APR. I did not "recon" if that's what you mean. I think they assigned that CL based on my income and having a high score. In addition, I noticed my score was slightly different when I received the card. They have their own system of scoring that is not FICO or is a different version of it. The letter did not mention that it was FICO at all. I believe they said my score was in the 730s, which is a 30+ point difference from what my Wally FICO was/is.

If he wants the logo that badly, let him be. Life is short. There are few pleasures. If a card with an NBA logo in your wallet can make you smile, then I see no harm.

However, it would be funny watching him try to swipe the AMEX card with the "affixed" logo.

PotO, you can only APPLY if you are in one of their service areas. I am happy to be in SOMEONE's service area since I can't get into PSECU.

Lonestar: Thanks and Congratulations. What did they give you? I did apply after BobWang made his announcement and read about it. That was yesterday. I thought of calling but decided to leave well enough alone. If they approve me, then I am grateful, however, if they do not - C'est La Vie! I really have enough cards. I'm a graduate student with $40,000.00 in credit. It is not like I have anything to complain about. Three years ago, I would not even have been able to get a secure card - now $40k in credit lines...well what do you know?

How come in college, I did not know that just because they give you a credit card, does not mean you can max it out, take cash advances and not pay it? Hmm?? In college, I just thought it was "Free money." Ahh.. so much older and wiser.

Thanks.

I just find it silly to have allegiance to a logo. I never suggested that there was any harm, but rather there are many, many, many ways to spend money that are a lot more rewarding than by brandishing a graphical tribute to a team of athletes/entertainers who care nothing about you in return.

  • 4 weeks later...

I applied after this announcement. I got a letter stating that my credit report information does not match app information. They want me to go into the branch. I am not sure it is worth it?

It is probably because I am an out of state student. I am a California resident but am currently going to grad school out of state. I come home for summer and breaks (like I am home right now for winter break so I could actually go into the brnach). I am not sure it is worth it though..hm.
