So after months of reading through the forums and disputing the accounts on my credit reports I am seeing things fall off and my score rising. Once I break 600 on each on I am thinking about applying for a secured credit card. The only revolving account I currently have is my auto loan which is in good standing. I have managed to stay away from opening an new accounts so that I am not hit with a load of inquires, nor do I have an public records (i.e. bankruptcies, tax liens, and court judgments) on my credit report. I have 3-4 accounts on each that I working to completely pay off so that each is clean and I can start rebuilding a clean line of credit.

This forum has been extremely helpful!!!!

If your short-term goal is to get a secured card, why wait? Pick one with no credit check and get some positive history reporting. Your scores should see a bump if you currently have no revolving credit reporting now.

Yay progress!

But...

The only revolving account I currently have is my auto loan which is in good standing.

wouldn't a car loan be an installment account, rather than a revolving account?
