So, I was looking for another credit union to bromance; hoping for some cool pre-approval on sign up as well

I've heard mixed reviews about Justice JFCU. Some bad, some good, and some really really bad.

Thought I would give it shot... I went to the NAS website and signed up for their basic membership, like $37.00 (National Association of Sheriffs)

Then I waited 24 hours and completed my membership application online with Justice. Got the, "don't call us we'll call you" message.

SEVEN days later, I just got a letter in the mail. The letter stated my membership request was DENIED due to "Too many Inquires" on my Chex report!!!

This is insane! I just requested a copy of my Chex report last month, and I only have 4 Inquiries in the past 5 years & only 1 from 2013! This is balls crazy. Who do these people think they are fooling.

So, apparently I wasted - $37 for nadda! I currently belong to 12 Credit Unions, and I've never flat out been turned down for basic membership. Please share your thoughts and think twice before joining JFCU! They just S%ck!

Not sure but I have heard that JFCU has really tightened up on memberships.

I joined back in 2006 and they have been great to me. Consider your membership to NSA as a donation for a good cause + you'll receive the magazine issues in the mail. (so not a total waste IMO)

Maybe you can try them again in a few more months, you'll get lucky. GLTY

Tried like three or four times over a year or so. Couldn't even get membership. Got my sheriff association membership card and magazine. Fax this fax that. Got rejected for various reasons. I finally gave up. Their PLOC that reports as an installment didn't appear to do anyhing for anyone anyway.

Applying via NAS usually gets you on the JFCU blacklist, and "too many inquiries" is the usual "reason" given. Even one inquiry has been deemed "too many" for NAS members. The Native American alternative to NAS has caused problems too.

They also pull CHEX and will deny for more than 1-2 recent inquiries there.

And with all that smoke and mirrors aren't particularly distinguishable in any significant way from other top CU, other than the PLOC which reports as an installment but is apparently also a non-starter... I too app, it was several years ago and didn't even bother with all the doc requests. The only membership app I can think of off hand that I didn't follow through on with great results. No regrets.

It only reports as an installment on one of my bureaus. Its a revolving line on the other 2. I joined via the ACA (American Correctional Association) but I also live in the DC Area, so not sure if that makes a difference being in their main service region. I also know I had way more chex inquiries than the OP.

Bummer. :( But at least you got one out of three. :good:

OTOH, I only wanted JFCO for the "installment". So it makes me feel like I didn't miss too much.

I like them...they have been good to me. I have the line of credit and they gave me a personal loan at 7.9% interest which is by far the lowest personal loan interest rate of all the CU's I have. I am also in the process of refinancing my car loans with them right now. One just got approved and I just applied for my other one.

Ditto here but due to too many inquiries on my Equifax report which happened to be only 4 at the time!
