Help with PNC Bank Secured Card

Hi everyone!

I have been lurking here for a little while and thank everyone so much for all expertise and help.

Before I found this forum I wasn't doing things in order. I did have some initial deletes and fixes but I stopped trying to repair for a couple of months so that I could start over and start with address deletes. I just sent out letters yesterday to all 3 CB's for personal info deletes.

This brings me to an account that I need help with after I get the initial personal info fixed. My husband and I both had a secured cc through PNC that we opened in June of 2011. My husband was in the military at the time and we were in the process of getting reassigned somewhere else. We had hit our 12 month mark of on time payments and were told that we could get the $500 deposit back. We went in to our local branch (this was also our bank) and talked to one of the loan officers who stated they had never heard of giving the money back. So she made a call and was told that we could close the account and have it applied to the account. The balance was $322. She said we would get a check in the mail for the $178. We moved from Ohio to Myrtle Beach and didn't think anything of it. In January of 2013 I decided I was going to do our free credit report pulls and see how our credit looked. We were shocked to see that PNC had charged our account off for the $322. We didn't receive one single statement, bill...nada, and here it was reporting on both of us.

I have tried talking with PNC and the credit bureaus...I've sent letters out to everyone. The CB's come back as verified every single time. PNC sent me some information and it looks like they waited until it charged off and applied the $500 to FC's and late fees so that we would be stuck with the $322. I don't know what to do from here...they clearly owe us $178 because we closed it in July of 2012.

Any advice? Sorry to be so wordy lol.

Thanks!!

Have you talked with the loan officer that gave you that information ? What about the Branch Manager ?

I am confused. You had a secured CC with money you deposited and the amount of your deposit was your credit limit, correct ?

They NEVER give money back when a person closes a secured CC ????? This doesn't make sense.

Do you have written documentation showing when you opened and deposited the money for the secured CC ?

So when I was 18, I had a bank account with Wells Fargo for school, that my Grant went into. I was young and careless, and I spent beyond my means. Overdrafting several times. When I stopped going to school I never made another payment and now I'm stuck. I have this Wells fargo account in collections, it's been that way for 4 years, I have a Victoria's secret account that I've made a payment on in the past but can't find the information for seeing as I've moved since that's been there for 4 years as well, and as of 2013 I've got a 12k medical bill from being sent to the hospital and held there to see how I reacted. They didn't do anything at all for me or to me so I don't know why it was so much, but I didn't have insurance then, so it ended up being high. However, I just signed up for insurance, is there anyway to use that to cover the past expense? Helppp I really want to buy the house I'm currently renting but I need the credit to do so, and I'd like the opportunity to go back to school as well...I'm 21 years old now, what do I do?

      Hello All,

As is said by many, this site is truly a godsend. I cannot commend you all enough for taking the time out of your schedules to assist people with rebuilding and understanding their credit. Thank you so much.

I've been reading for awhile now and thought i'd take a stab at my first post in hopes of reaffirming the direction I think i should head. I get a bit overwhelmed when trying to figure out where to start.

      1.) I've opted out
2.) I've sent letters to all CRA to remove old address.

Below i've put on an excel spreadsheet the baddies on my account. I'm really hoping its possible to get some of these removed as certain searches on this site have given me less hope. I am currently in the middle of a streamline refinance of my home so I assume thats why the mortgage is listed twice below.

My question is where is the smartest place to begin after the address situation is taken care of. I was assuming i would begin by calling the collection account for Express and demand a PTD, but I'm not sure if thats the best place to start.

Theres also the credit one issue, i assume its in collections with them but I haven't received any calls.

I also have the mortgage late issue which I'm not sure how to approach. I am current now but in 2012 had a few 30 and 60 days.

Anyway, any help or direction would be great. I hope I've read up enough to post this, if not feel free to direct on something i should follow back up on. Thanks again everyone!

Noticed this on the Barclays site. Any thoughts on this? Is there a BOA US Air product I don't know about? I think there use to be a BOA US Air debit card...

Say what you want about Discover, but this is a solid rebuilding option that starts at $200.

Anyone know much about Suntrust credit cards?

I have an old student loan backed by them but that's my only experience with Suntrust.

Doesn't look like anything too exciting but not too bad either. Not much of anything in credit pulls.

Anyone want to be a GP for one?

The cash back card is 2% up to $6k on gas and grocery then goes to 1%.
