Hi All  First time poster, long time lurker.

I sent pre hipaa letters to Transunion and Equifax (the accounts aren't on EX) for 5 of my 12 medical collections. I received a letter from TU THE NEXT WEEK saying that they are all removed. Still waiting on EQ. I didn't want to send too many at once, so I'm going to wait 60 days and send TU another pre hipaa for the rest. Anyone see potential issues with that? I've read a lot, but I want to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I also have some paid charge offs that I sent goodwill emails for yesterday: Chase, Credit One, and Capital One. I've seen success stories on these, but not any in the past few months. Has this worked for anyone recently? I'll update if I hear anything from them...crickets so far, but I forgot to include my # (good job, dork) in the email. Hopefully they'll email me or look at my account because I know they have it.

Other than that, I have a paid Verizon charge off that I've disputed twice to no avail and an unpaid utility that's only on Experian. I'm going to try to goodwill Verizon and dispute the utility.

Side note: I've had pretty good success having new collection accounts that pop on removed if I dispute them right away (I have credit monitoring).

Congrats! I just wrote my first two letters and my fingers are killing me....lol...it's sad that I don't ever write with a pen anymore! LOL

It feels good though to get something ready to mail to get this thing going! I have two accounts for TU and Im hoping for the same success you have had!

Question, were these about to fall off anyway? Were they paid or in collection? Mine are in collection but I have a feeling one of them is workmans comp and wasnt my responsibility to begin with!

They were unpaid collections from 2010, and the CA was updating them every month. I tried to settle for 50% in March, but they refused to take less than 90% so I didn't give them anything. I have a relative that used to work for that CA and she said they can go lower; I just got a mean collector.

I suggest you wait until your HIPAA disputes are finished with each CRA and then get the non medical accounts deleted by using the SOL letter program.

As to being out of practice writing cursive-- at least you know how!! I don't even think they are still teaching it in schools today.

Thanks!!!! I emailed him redacted copies of my tax returns for the last 4 years to show I was legitimately out of work. If I don't hear back from the other two I think I'm just going to send them letters with that. I was literally cheese line poor. I hate admitting that; I used to have a good job and was doing OK. It's weird starting over when everyone else your age seems financially solid. I think it would be a good reality show; some prissy chick getting used to being broke...selling her Coach purses/jewelry to make rent. I applied for assistance on an interview day, so I was wearing a suit and the receptionist suggested I apply there (no bachelor's, so no dice).

If nothing else, the experience has given me perspective I never would have had otherwise. I needed less pride and more empathy anyway.

Enough of that, lessons were learned and I'm going to SAVE to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Well Capital One said no...they need to report accurated information, blah blah. He said to contact the CRA and tell them what happened and see if they will remove it because he's seen that happen before. So I think I'll listen to Why Chat and do the SOL after I'm done with the medical.

I am sorry that you contacted the OC on your non medical account. There is NO "good will" from anyone in the credit business.

What you might have done is to impede your use of the SOL letter program, as the first step is an initial dispute to the CRAs.

In the case of an OC reporting, there will be an automated computer inquiry from the CRAs to the OC, your "good will" letter may have taken your account out of the archived ( unaccessible to the computer inquiry) and back into their active system, which would generate a response and prevent deletion.

Well crap. I disputed the CCs a couple months ago and they were verified. I don't think I provided enough info to Chase and Credit One to find my account (they were under my married name and Capital One couldn't find it) so I'll ignore the other 2 if they email me back and hope for the best. It will be a while before I can try the SOL since I have to wait 2 months to do my second round of hipaas then 2 after. I haven't read much about the SOL yet. Think Cap 1 will forget me by then?

Sorry to highjack your thread but what if you paid the CC account off for less than owed ....(sadly before knowing CB existed)

Please start your own thread, or post these questions in any existing thread you have.

I have but no one has answered me.

Thanks anyway. :/

I answered in your most recent thread in the credit forum, the Sol letter program is different than the HIPAA letter program but it should work for you.

If you are referring to the initial dispute letter:

http://whychat.5u.com/hipaadisp.html

The format has changed. You can dispute all the accounts at once as they are appearing on the report you are disputing. Make sure you copy the page and circle the accounts in red and include the heading page from your report with your name and the date of the report.

Is it with unique collections?

You can also search for a number of other cases on credit boards featuring this company by searching for unique/library
