Hello! i am looking for some advice on what my next plan of attack should be...i have been looking at many different blogs and topics and find it to be extremely helpful to know there are many people who were in the same position i am today and are willing to help...Before I started looking here, i decided i needed to pay off all my bad debt, which was in the neighborhood of $7000. i took a loan out againt my 401k and paid about 90% of it, but now I am unsure what to do to remove the harmful information on my credit report. I was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction.....

Thank you for responding... I have already gotten my credit reports and have used them to pay off most of the debt. I have been looking at PsychDocs seminar and find it extremely helpful. But my question is now that I have paid or settled most of the accounts, how do I go about removing the info from my report? Do I send validation letters to the original creditors or just send copies of all my payments to the credit bureaus and try to get them removed that way. I'm assuming it would be better to remove them then have them marked as paid or settled.....

You have to start from the basics. Get your credit reports. Opt out. Delete addresses. Then like psychdoc talks about triage your baddies on your credit report depending on what type of accounts. Then you go from there. Probably starting with disputes to the CRAs. Yes, psychdoc talks about how a lot of his derog accounts were also paid but you can still work on them.
