Quick Question About Secured Cards

Hello All -

 

First time poster looking forward to improving my credit score.

 

I'm interested in obtaining a secured credit card to start the rebuiling process. My question is would it be better to get one card with a higher balance of $1000, or two different cards with $500 each?

Anyone know if NFCU's secured card automatically graduates?

I've heard that they sometimes unsecure after 12-18 mos. of on-time payment history but YMMV

If you go with 2 @ 500 each, make sure they allow additional deposits, if your goal is to get better limits down the road, you do not want two 500 cards as the only tradelines on your report. You will want to beef those up to 1K each at least before you are ready to apply for unsecured cards elsewhere.
