Had a judgment entered in 2009 for a medical bill, around $2500. Paid it in full in July 2012. Shows in my files with CRAs as paid. Is this hurting my score at all? If so, any advice on how to get this removed?

Judgements always hurt your score to some degree in my experience when i got a 4 year old judgement removed from my reports my scores all went up i sent letters to the CRA's and got mine taken off in order of who removed quickest 1. equifax 2. experian 3. transunion

May I ask what specifically you wrote and asked? I considered writing as you described, but as the judgment was valid, and is being reported properly, I did not know what exactly to ask for?

Messaged you with all the information you should need sent just modify the CRA name accordingly and fill in the blanks.

FrostBolt... i was going to ask you for that as well... would i be OK to ask to be messaged the same info?

I HATE when people ask for advice and then others message the info. The entire point of this board is to help others and to get help. Why not share your info with others who may benefit and just post it in here?

There's a frowned upon (on creditboards) judgment dispute method that most keep to PM'S on here. The idea of credit boards is to teach people how to get items deleted the "right way" by finding errors in the trade line, etc etc. I would only assume that's what they're pm'ng. I used this method last month and all my judgments were wiped away. Very simple letter:

Transunion,

Blah blah blah

Court docket 123456- similar name/ person, please delete.

Court docket 34532- similar name/person please delete.

Etc

TU deleted three, EQ two, EX one. Im public record free now. All were paid judgments, just wanted them off. Scores jumped quite a bit. Like I said, it's probably the "wrong" way to do it but it works. A lot of people have success with the whychat method if you want to do it correctly..

what you are writing sounds interesting yet kinda confusing.. somewhere between the blahs and the similar name parts.. i welcome your ideas in PM if i am worthy and if you are more comfortable with it there...

PS... i was trying to hit the quote button and clicked to fast.. and i clicked "report" ... thanks god it takes me to a form first in order to fill out.. Lord knows i didnt want to start any type of relationship with you that way..

If this behind the scenes nonsense continues with the PM'ing of certain ways to remove accurate info from your reports dishonestly, action will be taken to curtail it. We do have ways to do this.

We went through this before and we will not allow some of you to continue to push these illegal ways of removing accurate info. Removing it does nothing to the actual judgement which is what you should be concerned with, not trying to remove it at this point.

They will still come after you and it will likely show up on your reports again. Not a smart thing at all to do if you are serious about your credit.

Post the letter frostbolt. I want to see it.

My original post had nothing to do with nefarious or illegal tactics, simply asking if there was a way to have them removed. Bill was for an ex, who was on GF's insurance. She paid it out of my pocket, over $2500, despite the divorce decree stating ex had to pay. Not fair to get screwed with the bill, AND to have a judgment count against score when it was paid.

As the letter PM'ed to me was for an unpaid judgment, it was informative but not relevant to what I was trying to accomplish. Appreciate frostbolt passing it along, and I do not think he meant to circumvent the rules, only to help.

So is there ANY way to legitimately get a PAID judgment off?

You could try to have the judgement vacated in court. Not sure if that's possible in your case, but may be something to look into.

I never said it was. My post was not directed towards you.

Dispute the judgement with the cra's. When they come back verified, you request the method they used to verify it and who verified it. They will likely say the courthouse veified it. only problem with that response is that courts don't respond to disputes. So, you then request a letter from the court that they did not verify it. You then send a copy of that letter to the cra's with a demand they immediately remove it as they are not following the FCRA with regards to disputes of judgements. May work, may not work. But it's worth a try.
