The Master "How I Got Into the 800 Club" Thread

Recommended Posts

January 2016 I hit Fico TU08 800.

Profile looked like this:

Perfect payment history.

AAOA 2.25 years

$2 total utilization

Oldest account 10.5 years old, this was a cc account that was closed 6 years ago

7 total credit card accounts, 6 which were young accounts, no other history.

- 1 open Jan 14

- 1 open June 14

- 4 open Jan 15.

3 inquiries on Tu from Jan 15

Seems to confirm the most important things for scoring by far are age of oldest account, utilization and of course perfect history.

Oldest Account - 13.9

AAOA - 3.7

Utilization - 1%

3 revolvers currently reporting all only 2 months old

Clean thin file

12/2016 TU 08 = 833

up from 755 the month prior.

General question.

Is an old mortgage account sufficient or does an "old" account have to be revolving to this effect?

Yes.

The optimistic side of my thoughts says an old mortgage account can propell scores past 800.

Thanks for the clarification Mendelssohn. I thought that's what you meant and asked a second time so the side of the "or" would be confirmed for the thread.

1) Got rid of baddies (mostly through DVs, goodwills)

2) Got added as AU on as many old and high limit cards from friends and family as possible

3) Hammered CLI's on the cards I had, and started opening new cards

4) Continuing hammering CLI's like a mad man, continuing adding new cards.

5) Opened car loans, mortgages, and paid off student loans.

FICO hit 846 last month on TU. Started in the 550's

So no one has hit 800 since October of 2017?

Damn, cv!  I thought Hege was the only one digging around here with a rusty spade ....
