Is this my first deletion?!!

I received a letter today from MCM stating that they have instructed the three major CRAs to delete the account from my credit file...yippee!!!

But wait...then it said it does not affect any credit reporting of this account by the OC.

So I'm guessing the OC will still report this in my credit file?? Has anyone else ever received a letter similar to this?

yes the OC will stay. The only way to get rid of an OC is to find incorrect reporting and Jack Attack it

I guess I'm wondering if MCM removed It due to an inaccuracy wouldn't the OC remove it as well? Would this give me a better chance of getting this debt remove? And should I send a letter to the CRA or directly to the OC?

They could have removed it for numerous reasons. More than likely they couldn't validate it with the OC and as such, removed it. Also possible, you're close enough to being out of the SOL or you are out of the SOL that isn't worth their time to validate it; easier / faster to just delete than to spend the time contacting the OC and in turn fighting with you. The less time they spend validating debts they probably won't ever be paid on, the better it is for them, less wasted resources. While it's possible that they attempted to verify, but found inaccuracies, the likelihood of that is very slim. I would only bank on that if you have a legitimate reason to believe the OC screwed you somehow and you have documented proof that they screwed you.

 

Search for "Jack Attack" to help with getting the OC removed.
