So, a few days ago I stumbled upon the wondrous information in the credit pulls section of this site and started researching various cards. Based on this research, and recent looks at FAKO scores, I applied for and was approved for an Amex Green account. Then yesterday an Amex DSM with a 2k limit, I don't know which CRA they pulled though. I currently have 4 accounts with Cap one with low limits and since I haven't requested a CLI recently on any of them I decided to check. I was denied so I started checking through the posts here and I've gone through the sea of posts about backdoor s and see mixed posts in regard to cap one. It seems they changed there policies some time ago and was wondering if anyone has recently gotten results with any of the following numbers:

Cap1: 800-625-7866 (Account Specialist)
Cap1: 800-951-6951 (cust. relations)
Cap1: 800-548-4593 (application status - automated only)
Cap1: 800-889-9939 or 800-625-7866.(Account Specialist)
Cap1: 877-513-9959 (Account Retention?)
Cap 1: 800-707-0489 (Senior Escalation Account Mgrs.)

So I sent an email yesterday and got a response just before 9 PM MDT. I have accounts with Cap one and the lady that called me was calling on my 2 HSBC cards. So far she's been great. I'll follow up when this is all done but either way thank you lemonlimez.

So I thought an update to conclude this one would be good. I was able to get a CLI on all 4 cards I have with them. Not the amounts I wanted but this will help me keep my util down.

Starting Limits

Cap 1 MC (1) 500 (No Rewards)

Cap 1 MC (2) 750 (Cash rewards)

Orchard Bank MC (HSBC) 420

Best Buy MC 300

New Limits

Cap 1 MC (1) 1000 (Rewards added, temp lowered APR)

Cap 1 MC (2) 1500 (Cash rewards, temp lowered APR)

Orchard Bank MC (HSBC) 520

Best Buy MC 500

Thank you lemonlimez for the email address.

HSBC said theirs was a HP but the Cap 1 side of things was a SP.

This was on the tail end of an app spree (an Amex Green, Amex Delta (2k), Discover IT(3k), Lowes (1k), and Matress Firm (3.7k) -Wells Fargo) so I have a bunch of inq at the end of last month. I already had a ton but most are over a year at this point so I should be ok. I've considered trying to bump them but I've read a few threads here that lead me to believe it is pointless. However, given the results I'm pretty happy.

Weird. When the girl called me to follow up today I asked about the auto-denial. She said that is a thing and I can call her in the future. Given all the new activity on my credit I'm going to let it all stand for a bit. 5 new accounts and just as many cli's (got a little more on my Amazon too). I also am waiting to hear back on some disputes, which translates into me trying to do way too much at once. I honestly wasn't expecting them to double both my cap 1 cards, especially since the HSBC ones came back in a day and it was nearly a week for the Cap 1 cards.

Congrats on the rewards, they aren't great but its better than nothing. Was yours a perm APR lowering or temp?

clumsycajun.... Is your Cap 1 a regular Cap 1 or a HSBC?

I would like to try for a CLI but I don't want a HP. This was a secured card but they unsecured it in Feb of this year. I just wonder if it is too early. The credit limit is only $400. I have had the card since June of last year.

My APR is a temp thing but may be renewed based on my spending. My Cap1 was a secured also. It started at $250 in 2009 and then after 6 months of on time payments it went to $500 where it has stayed. I'm about to email them again because honestly using it isn't worth it with such a low CL. I buy one thing and it looks like I am close to maxing out my card. I always pay it in full but still. It's the point.

I have had the same stingy results on CLI with Cap one.

Chase approved me for a $7K Marriott Signature Visa, I have an Amex green and Discover IT, but Cap1 gave me the same increases as Demonico received.

Although they did double them, they are still much lower then I would prefer.

I'm actually contemplating closing the $1500 limit card and then in a couple of months applying for a Venture. Perhaps that would work out better.
