After being in Chase blacklist hell for 9.5 yrs, I was approved for a 14K limit on the Chase IHG card in late October. I applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred 2 weeks later.

Application was still pending so I called the recon line. The rep mentioned the 2 recent apps, why I was applying for CSP, income, what happened with the 2 IIB Chase accounts. She then offered to move credit line from the IHG over to the CSP.

Chase is still giving me the evil-eye (won't increase exposure). I'm not getting instant approvals but am making a bit of progress.

Congrats on the approval.

What was your credit profile when you applied for the IHG Card?

They pulled EQ because I froze EX.

EQ FICO roughly 720. AAOA 3 yrs. 19 revolving accounts, 270K total revolving credit. 3% util. No negatives. But Chase still has internal records showing negative history. Income x00,000.

Has anyone tried BOA?

I was able to get off the BOA BL after 9.5 yrs. Was a card from a bank they acquired and was IIB (pre-acquisition). They definitely knew about the account though because after I was approved via manual U/W (had EX frozen and wanted TU pull), I got a call 2 days later from 2nd level and he asked me about it. Still got $25k approval though.

Bank of America blacklists. Found out this morning when speaking with an underwriter since I had EX frozen. They pulled EQ while on the phone. CO from 2003 was brought up, not on report but in their internal system. He said to try back in a year. Not gonna happen. I have cards with Chase, Citi, Wells Fargo, Barclays, etc., no need to beg BOA to let me back in. I told him we all make mistakes including BOA. The rest of us just weren't lucky enough to have taxpayers bail us out.

Update. I decided to call back and asked a different analyst if I was blacklisted due to the CO. She asked me lots of questions and I mean a lot about the CO. Looked over the app and credit report and said she reversed the decision and I'm approved!!!! But I'm not getting comfortable with this card. One or two small purchases a year, PIF, then sock drawer it goes. They may change their minds again and close it.

So now I don't know if they blacklists or not.

Congrats!

Your situation with Chase is proving my theory that even though they have internal records on you, it can be counter balanced with your positive tradlines.

How were you able to obtain so many accounts and large lines?

Aside from 1 old late that has fallen off (busy with work and forgot to pay), I have had perfect credit history since BK.

It was barely a year ago that my total credit was 40K. My rebuild was very slow since I didn't know what I was doing. I basically had toy limits.

Once I disputed the BK off EQ early, I targeted EQ pullers and went nuts. Higher limits got me even higher limits.

I got the PR off TU recently. EX will be clean in 6 months. I will then try to push my credit limits to at least 1.5X salary.

I've just gotten word from the capital one executive office that their official policy (from the underwriters) is that if a customer has had a capital one card charged off within the past 12 months they cannot open a new line of credit.

So, the official BL with CapOne for a charge off is 12months, may be longer for BK I didn't ask.

Just had an interesting conversation with a local CU - I forgotten about a credit card I had with them back in the 1990's and it CO'd in 1998. I contacted them when they solicited my employer looking for loan business. I applied for a refi on my Ford Credit to get my rate from 6.5 to 2.9%. The CU denied me due to that CO even though it's long gone from my CRA's and well past any applicable SOL. I asked how long they keep CO's in their records - she said and I quote "FOREVER". They will let you have a savings account there but no loans or mortgages.

So put down Forum Credit Union - blacklist "FOREVER"

I assumed I was black listed by Citi after I had 3 charge offs that were sold to a JDB a few years ago. Recently, I noticed Citi had lots of promotional inquiries on my TU report and was sending me lots of promotional materials. Well, I finally applied for the Preferred Visa and was approved.

So I guess they don't always black-list for charge-offs.
