3. AMEX - Since 2012 - was not IIB in BK. Told I am blacklisted due to "Too many applications within a 12 month period" Very odd. Will not allow me to apply for any of their products. Was told to wait 2 years.

Damn. HOw many apps did you do?

Eager to test the blacklist, I applied 13 times in the past year. I guess I better lay low for another 6 months.

2. Transunion (TruCredit) Blacklist since 2006 - Spoke to a manager yesterday about this. Asked when I will be elligible to use their service again. Response: Never.

- was told, once you are on Transunion Blacklist for "suspicious" activity (too many daily pulls) you are never removed from the list. hahaha! Screw you TU!

This isn't true Rod. I was on the same list in 2008 (IIRC), when they stopped allowing daily pulls and started blocking accounts. I was unable to use TC or sign up for any TU based puller, and couldn't dispute online, as every time I tried to access my account I was told it was blocked. Called TU and escalated to supervisors and was told no one could remove the block. Finally, I wrote a letter to the CEO of TU (it was in Chicago I believe). Basically outlined that I want to be able to access my report/dispute online and that my account was blocked unfairly because I played within the rules (the site said I could pull daily and was, how is that fraudulent?), and I found it impossible to believe no one in the entire company could remove the block as I was told by their reps. Anyway about a week after sending the letter I got a call from someone in his office and I explained the situation to her. She said she would look into it and get back to me. A couple of days later she called and said block is removed, you're all set. So, I would try that route if you are getting nowhere.

I have got 8 or 9 in the past year, and I haven't gotten that response yet. I am going to wait until 10 years hits in January before I try again...

My wife and I had a 2002 BK. She included an AMEX card in BK. I did not. I was approved for a Blue Cash card with a generous limit. My wife, though, was denied as my authorized user. Obviously because she included Amex in her BK.

Has anyone had any luck in getting Amex to recon an authorized user that IIB Amex?

AmEx blacklist includes AU accounts

Thanks SoxFan! I thought as much. I'm still getting B* on TU thanks to SC so I didn't want to push the case with Transunion until I'm done B*ing.

I appreciate the support. I may try to push the case and write a letter first of next year. I don't think they really have much of a case if you read their T&C's.

Hey chugs!

I've actually app'ed for vaious different cards a total of (12) in the past 12 months with AMEX. They hate me because I have too many Inq's on EX.

I've had their crap Zync card since it came out and they won't consider me for anything else. I've even tried app'ing over the phone and asking if they would pull ALT CB. No Go!!

It's ashame and it's my own fault. I really want that Starwood Amex SPG. Looks like I'll need wait another 12-18 months before I can give it another go.... :(

I burned some of my creditors back in 2005/2006. They no longer appear on my credit reports. Now that my life is back in order and I treat credit way more responsibly than before, I tried to see if any would give me a second chance. Some did and others never forget. My results are below. Hope this helps.

CFNA/FIRESTONE this is very easy to get with low 600's. However they blacklist and told me NO flat out and referenced my charged off account.

AMERICAN EXPRESS I had a green card and burned them for about $1200. They blacklist for sure even after eight years. Instant denial without credit check. They told me NO because my previous account was cancelled.

CHASE I had a low limit Mastercard with them back then. Charged off around $600. Decided to apply again and see what happened. I was shocked. Approved for Chase Freedom with $1500 credit line and 0% interest until December 2014.

I THINK I've just been approved for a Chase IHG Rewards card. I will believe it when I have the card in my hand.

Received a promotional email from IHG yesterday and applied last night. Got a notice saying that I will get a response in 30 days. Called the automated line to check status and heard "Congratulations you've been approved for CL of 14,000"

Current total Chase credit limit of $7000 on 2 cards, originally from WaMu. Got CLD after Chase bought the accounts. Never was able to get a CLI afterwards.

Applied several times in the past and Chase declined. Last applied in 1/2013.

If I am truly approved, then I am finally off the blacklist after 9 years 5 months 4 days based on submission of paperwork.

In an earlier post about creditors who blacklist I forgot to mention two others I burned 7-8 years ago and gave me a second chance.

Target: I burned Target National Bank for $1200 back in late 2006. I have heard from others who included Target in a bankruptcy that they would deny a new account because the previous account was a bad debt. Now TD Bank USA issues Target Red Cards and I was approved. Low $200 limit but I did get a second chance.

Capital One: I had a Visa and MasterCard charged off in late 2006 with them for about 4k total. Then in late 2007, my car which was financed by Capital One Auto Finance was repossessed. They sold the car at auction and sent me a bill for the deficiency balance of 5k which I never paid. Capital One took me back in 2012 when I got their secured MasterCard. Gave them $49 deposit for $200 credit line. Was recently approved for Capital One Quicksilver one Mastercard with $500 credit limit. Capital One appears to be very forgiving.

Couple of questions:

  • I added my live-in girlfriend as an authorized user on my Walmart store card. When doing so, Walmart's website only asked for her first and last name. To my amazement, the card showed up on her credit report a couple of weeks later. How was Walmart able to locate the correct person with only a first and last name?

  • Would it be possible to be added as an authorized user to an American Express card, with the goal of achieving backdating, even though I have several unpaid charge offs with American Express? (As an aside, I'm trying to get those removed from my report. Any advice?)

Thanks in advance for the help!

The only way to tell if you're on the AmEx BL

is to have someone try to add you as an AU.

On the website, you'll know you're on the BL is the AU doesn't show up immediately.

On the phone, the CSR will tell you you'll get a letter in 7-10 days.

If you're NOT on the BL, the CSR will say "You'll receive your card in 7-10 days"

I IIB BOA, Chase, Citi, Barclays, HSBC and Capital One in 2007.

I was approved for a Citi Exxon gas card and Shell card as well as the Best Buy card all within the past 8 months. Still have not been able to get a Visa/MC from them yet. So it was 5 years + for approval on a retail Citi card after IIB them.

I was approved by Capital One for 2 credit cards with them, one in 2010 and 2011, so it was 3 years + to get another credit product from them after IIB them.

Have not tried BOA, but was recently turned down by Chase for presence of BK on my report so they still hate me, even though the card that was IIB from them was at a $0 balance at the time I filed. I did have a WAMU visa received after my BK that converted to a Chase card and they closed it in 2009.

Barclays won't approve me yet, citing the BK on the report.

After being in Chase blacklist hell for 9.5 yrs, I was approved for a 14K limit on the Chase IHG card in late October. I applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred 2 weeks later.

Application was still pending so I called the recon line. The rep mentioned the 2 recent apps, why I was applying for CSP, income, what happened with the 2 IIB Chase accounts. She then offered to move credit line from the IHG over to the CSP.

Chase is still giving me the evil-eye (won't increase exposure). I'm not getting instant approvals but am making a bit of progress.

Congrats on the approval.

What was your credit profile when you applied for the IHG Card?
