A very interesting thread. After having a financial disaster in 2017, I have since settled most of the accounts I had that charged-off, except for 1 big one I am waiting out the SOL on (come on January 2021!).

One of the banks I burned was Elan Financial Services for Fidelity Visa Signature. I know they are part of US Bank, but I wonder if I would be blacklisted from US Bank or just Elan? I would really like to have the Cash Plus. I would even consider parking money in the US Bank secured card to later PC to Cash Plus if I had to. You just can't beat 5% on utilities. Does anyone has experience with this situation?

The other blacklists I am on are BofA, Citi, and Chase. Chase is probably the only one I would want a card with ever again, but who knows how long I'll be on the blacklist considering that I settled the account in 2019 and the card went to a CO status in 2017. They also settled at about 14%, so they did lose a lot of money on me. The grudge may last a VERY long time.....

According to @Allkindabroke was blacklisted from USBank because of an IIB Elan account that dated back to when BoA owned Elan

Edit: Sorry - @Allkindabroke wasn't fully blacklisted, just not getting any luv from USBank and claiming "unsatisfactory account performance" - so you might find yourself blacklisted from USBank.

Unfortunately things seem to change, sometimes more than once, so past experiences don't necessarily accurately reflect current policies.  Something to keep in mind as you read this thread.

For example, I IIB a Juniper card (they were bought by Barclays) in 2003.  I got back in with Barclays around 2008-2009 at have had various cards with them, most recently an Arrival for the past 6 years.  Perfect payment, $41k limit, $0 balance.  I applied for the Jet Blue card about 6 weeks back and was denied for IIB account.  I went to 2 levels of recon and wouldn't waive, even with 10+ years of on time payments.  FICO was 770+ but didn't matter as there was no pull.

Chase approved me 4 years post BK in 2008 after IIB with BK showing on record, a few years later they declined for IIB account and said policy changed and won't approve, even after going to EO.  A few years after that I got 2 other chase cards (currently have 4 with ~$100k in total limits).

AmEx still won't approve me almost 20 years later after IIB while others have gotten back in, just tried recently and denied...again, even with pre-approval.

After a couple of days of "we're thinking about it", BofA approved my Premium Rewards application. I didn't even have to call recon. Woohoo! I guess BofA does occasionally forgive. I don't know if my Platinum Rewards status mattered, but I figure it didn't hurt.

We'll see in 6 months to a year if a CLI is possible. I've observed that sometimes issuers will approve a card for a customer that previously IIBed them, but their CLI algorithm is set to "never" for that customer.

Hopefully that isn't the limit of their tolerance, I'd like to get a couple of the Cash Rewards variants in a few months after I'm done qualifying for the PR's signup bonus.

I can tell you that I IIB'd AmEx in 2007 for approx $20k and I am still definitely on the BL.  Attempted to get the Hilton Honors AMEX and the inquiry didn't even process.  AA letter stated declined due to "prior performance with our company".  I called to ask the rep if there was a way to reconisder and they said no.  No offer of Oasis (which I would have declined anyway) etc.

I thought I might as well post here considering I have made progress. I recently obtained a $500 secured card from US Bank. I still owe Elan $23k, which is about to hit the SOL in 03/2021. I didn’t have any issues with the approval for this card. The card I had that went CO was a former BofA card, so that might have had something to do with it. Not sure, but I am looking forward to having an unsecured Cash Plus in a year.

Either I'm off Chase's Blacklist or it was simply a matter of waiting for the BK to be removed from TU

IIB'ed about $30K possibly more in 2010/BK fell off TU sometime between 4/20-6/20  TU 825

Sapphire Reserve 9/18 - auto decline  TU 740's

SWA Rapid Rewards 1/19 - auto decline TU 740's

Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card - Approved $5K (credit pull updated)

I thought the Amazon card was an auto decline because I received a 30 day notice on screen but the approval was sent via email and $100 credit was posted to my account.

Amex IIB July 2010 -1 business/1 personal optima card less than $5K combined- BK fell of report about this time last year.  I checked for offers knowing I was blacklisted after the bk fell off all reports in July 2020 and received the expected "no offers available".

I received 2 letters that say I am pre-approved to apply for the Amex Everyday Credit Card SUB 15K MR points.  I went to the Amex page to check for offers and I'm prequalified for the platinum and gold cards.  The green card says "new launch offer".

I was thinking about just taking the no AF Everyday card but I remember reading somewhere that Amex only does one SUB for life or something and I'll hold out for the platinum when my travel needs make sense for an AF card.  I'll do some research but it looks as though I'm not on the blacklist.

Don't let the pre-approved offers fool you.  I have been getting them for the past few years and am still squarely on the BL.  I am not saying it means you are definitely on or off, just saying that you can't assume that it means your off.

You're only eligible to get a SUB one time per card now. So you can get a SUB for the ED, and get a SUB for Plat or Gold, etc.

Thank you both for the feedback.  I confirmed that the SUB is per card and pulled the trigger on the Everyday card.  Approved $25K.  I will update the credit pull database.

One clarification:  the once-per-card-per lifetime SUB policy applies to public offers.

Amex still does plenty of targeted SUB offers to people who have already gotten the SUB on the same card.

Received the card and it says "Member since 92"  Let's see if that makes its way to my credit report and bumps the AAoA up from the current 7 years 4 months

Unfortunately D* has been dead for a number of years now.  Even though your card will say member since '92, the account will show on the credit report as opened in 2021.
