Finally off of Barclay's BL...denied in March because of my $8k charge off with them from 2008 (backdoor phone call confirmed that to be the only reason).

Approved instantly today for the Arrival MC $7,500!

Guess they just needed to see some use on my current cards.

Awesome, lady! Congrats!!! :clapping:

Paid amex off in full although I have a lousy EX score... If paid in full and you have adequate cash reserves- it is based on your score and income or do they go back to 2008 even though they were paid in full and offered me another card at that time (silly me)?

You should call and see if you can get the Oasis Card

There is hope at the end of the rainbow for those that are patient with the BL....

Chase and Citi, both with DOLA around 6/2006, both went to CA (unpaid)... Been trying both about every six months for the last year and a half. Declined every time for "Delinquency or other derogatory relationship with our bank", but not this month.

Citi (Thank You Pref) approved for 6.6K

Chase (Southwest) approved for 20K [matches my highest CL]

Congrats!

How much did you burn Chase and Citibank for?

What is your score/credit profile at the time of application?

Chase was about 6K, Citi was over 10K. When I applied, my TU FICO was 740 (Not sure on EX FICO). Chase pulled EX, Citi pulled both EX and TU... I have a couple of lates from 4+ years ago, some new accounts in the last year, but otherwise clean reports that they pulled.

Another interesting tidbit... I decided to try and double up on the SW 50K bonus and was approved for a second Chase SW card (with the exact same CL)15 days after the first one (without another HP). Just lucky, I guess.

Yes, all declines that I received resulted in HPs. Each time I tried, Chase would pull EX only, Citi would pull both EX and TU.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm glad all these big banks are forgiving and I'm glad I have never burned Citi or Amex (especially Amex).

A lot of time has passed for me. I guess that's why I am seeing offers for the Slate and Freedom on CK. Not that it's the right time for me to apply.....or is it?

This post has given me major hope. I'm at the same DOLA with Chase and Citi, both unpaid. I'm going to hold off to let my positive history grow, and will try for them next year, when I try for another Amex or two.

I'm about 7-8 years since CO on mine.

I decided to test the water. There was no pulls anywhere, but there was this note on the decline:

We rejected your application due to the fact we closed your previous accounts in the past.

So, blackballed here, the total amounts was not a lot, maybe 4k tops.

Called Chase for a CLI on my 6 month old Amazon Visa with a $500 limit. Was told I would never get an increase because I burned them in a BK in Jan 2002. I've PIF 3x already this month for a total of more than $1,000. Can't believe I can't get a CLI for something that happened almost 13 years ago.

I do have a call into the EO, but I'm not holding my breath. They pulled TU and it is clean. Only 4 INQs. 700 FICO.

USAA 7 years since BK. :D Meaning I can't use anything USAA related for 7 years after my bankruptcy. I have 6 more years to go.

How much did you include USAA in your BK for?

My experience: USAA was IIB in 1999 for roughly $4200. They politely told me I will never be eligible for their banking products -- including checking, savings, credit card, auto loan, etc. -- unless I pay the full amount. I've been a full member since I was a teen in the 80s, and I've maintained auto and renter's insurance with them all along. But I have not been in a mad rush to dig any deeper than the first CSR who told me that. YMMV.

My husband was able to get a secured card immediately post bankrutpcy with USAA. Of course, he's a full member, so maybe that's why.

**edit, and duh I just realized he didn't have an account from USAA IIB so I'm sure that was the main reason.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned USAA or Navy Federal Credit Union.

Brother-in-law stiffed them both about 17 years ago and to this day they refuse to let him open any type of account except for a simple savings account. They will not give him online access for his savings account.

I called USAA yesterday because I ran across my BK7 papers from 1999 and had completely forgotten they were IIB. Rep told me I'm barred from ANY banking products whatsoever until I pony up the balance of $4200-ish. That explains a lot -- I THOUGHT I heard them laugh at me when I applied for an auto loan in 2012-Q1. Oddly enough, they never missed a beat in continuing to provide me with exceptional service on insurance products, but I suppose that's a totally different branch of the company. Heck, if THEY would play the D* game, I'd have to at least consider forking over the $ -- my "Member Since" date is 1991. Sorry...I'll quit fantasizing now.

If I ever get my D* 1982 AmEx, you can AU...Sorry, I'll quite fantasizing now but you never know!

I wouldn't dig deeper. They have been known to cancel insurance or, at a minimum, not allow you to pay premiums online.

Regarding AmEx, I think their recent regulatory problems have pushed them to soften their blacklisting stance. I could be wrong, but it looks like more people are being delisted lately. Perhaps instead of being blacklisted forever, they've got some kind of internal schedule which determines when you are paroled.
