Oldest Account- Should I or Shouldn't I

I have a utility collection account on my credit report for $68. It due to fall off in less than a year. The account was opened in 2005 so it is the longest account I have. Should I try to offer them payment in exchange for updating the account as paid as agreed so it can stay on? Advice on if it is a bad idea or not please.

If it's a collection account you want it off your file and if it has been on there since 2005 it should've come off last year.

DOFD is 6/2007. I doubt that they still have any records on this account. I want to pay but not if it re-ages it. Any way I can get them to send me proof of accuracy or demand a deletion? If it can't be relisted as positive, then I want to get them off completely.

I'm afraid I'm going to take a big hit when I get rid of them. TransUnion and Experian are fine because I have a couple old positive closed accounts on there, but Equifax oldest is unfortunately a negative.

Even if you want it to remain, it is going to be deleted. No CRA

considers a collections account to be a positive, so it will fall off

after 7-7.5 years. Once all your other negatives are removed, do you

really want this still reporting?

At this point, I just want to get it off completely. They keep verifying with all bureaus. Although I doubt they still have records. I was thinking a FCBA nutcase letter to the OC. I'll take some advice if you have any ideas to try.

If you can't get it off with disputes, try PFD. If they won't do that, just wait it out and try to dispute as obsolete once the dropoff date gets closer.
