Hello everyone, I am writing because I am just a bit confused as to what I should do next. I have two debts with the same company. I sent off two different validation letters to EOS CCA for two different debts. For one of the validation letters for a century link account, they sent back a settlement offer rather than validation. I have yet to receive response from the second acct, so hopefully they just remove it. But long story short...

They "claim" that I owe 172.88. Rather than send validation back, they sent a letter stating they are willing to settle this debt for $69.15. That is a wonderful offer and I am willing to pay the amount. Now to my problem. I do not want to pay the amount and the item is still on my credit report because in reality I believe that they cannot validate this item. I am unaware if I should push for validation or send my own PFD. I am willing to pay the amount only if it is removed. Can someone please give me there input on what they think I should do?

Example letters are great, but only to use as an example, otherwise you'll just be laughed at.

Why settle when you they can't validate? Settling sounds great, but paying nothing and a deletion, AND they pay you sounds even better, LOL.

Do not settle with them, they've shown their weak hand! Do a little research on improper validation and continued collection activity before you send the next letter.

What is the SOL on this one?

There may be something in the wording of the settlement offer indicating they are willing to "not" fight you if you dispute the account with the CRA after you pay them. Any clues?

How long ago did they sign the green card?

Ok, so I sent an email to one of the representatives of eos cca.

I received a response back today

stating "our client, century link, placed the above referenced account with our office on 04/26/2013. (LIE) The account has since been closed and returned to the client, and as such, our office will not contact you any further. EOS CCA did not report to the credit bureau. If you have any further concerns, please contact my office at" .......

My question is how do I know that it is completely removed from my credit report, just request another copy?

Was this their response for both accounts? If not, which one?

It was just in response to the century link account, but I did pull my credit report like I was filing a dispute and the other one is not there, but the century link one was still there. I replied to her email informing her that it was still showing on my credit report, but I have yet to receive a response. So I will wait until Monday the lastest and if she doesnt respond, send another email.

Well I have copies of the emails and I do believe that it will be removed and I only utilized one email contact, I actually have a higher contact that I did not utilize. I only get canned responses when dealing with postal mail, so this was just another avenue.

***UPDATE****

I have pulled my credit reports and one of the collection accounts was REMOVED. I have now just sent another email referencing the other account. I will let you know what happens when I receive an update or the steps I will take if I don't.
