In 2009, I had a charge off with them in the amount of $44, which I disputed because I thought I had already paid it. But I paid it because it might have been an oversight on my part. After all, it was only $44, no big deal. Anyway, I started service with them and continued until late 2012. This time I made sure the closing bill was paid and even had them mail receipts. So that is all clear. However, that old charge off from 2009 is still on my credit report. They list it as paid but I would like it off. What should I do to try to get it off?

You could find an error in the way it is being reported and dispute it with the CRAs, if that doesn't work you can try a GW letter to the entity that is reporting it.

I will try the goodwill letter, because they are reporting it as a paid charge-off and mailed a statement years ago acknowledging payment.

Be careful what you say in goodwill letter....with regards to admitting fault. If they are reporting it wrong I would dispute with the CRA, then send SCE a letter. If they do not respond properly file a complaint with the CPUC. If that doesn't work file a complaint with BBB, and CA Ag. I have had several hard to move tradelines delete with the nutcase complaint strategy. Would not hurt to email Executive offices about the problem letting them know each time another compliant is about to be filed.

They quietly deleted the trade line from all credit reports. I sent a goodwill email since the account was paid and it worked!
