Joseph, can you do me a favor, and post the payment address for your Amazon store account in the mid-cycle thread?

This way, other members who receive this card can immediately set up push payments,

without having to call or wait for 1st statement.

Yeah, my statement from Amazon.com came. I need to wait for my radiator to be credited, so I know the RIGHT balance to PIF. (Yeah, I bought one of those on credit. I returned it.)

It is because it didn't get credited back yet, that I will PIF after it does.

I was gonna go out for a walk, but we ordered pizza, so now I don't have to. I think we paid cash for the pizza.

Yes, doing that right now.

You remember, I recently got approved for the Amazon.com card and had enough cash (discussed in the pursuit of entrepreneurial spirit, with cars, at length) to PIF it. Well, they reported the balance before even mailing me the statement!!! That is why I am relieved to know that it doesn't look TOO bad, since the balance will only be there for a month.

is it really reporting mid cycle or was there just a balance when they reported for the first time?

Balance reported before statement came, mid-cycle from what my due date would be, so it is both mid-cycle and first time. I never even got a chance ot pay my balance before it came.

Please forgive me, I am moving as fast as I can. Olive branches, peace, love, hair grease and certain types of pills all around.

I do agree.

I am willing to move on, no need to dwell on things like that. We all get testy every once in awhile. Can we move on from that little altercation there?

Ok, I have a handful of 'low content' questions.

I was browsing FingerHut and got the pre-approval offer for $350. I've searched around here, and it was suggested I try that since we're having trouble qualifying for other things. But: is it basically a store CC, or a one time line of credit? I have never financed anything (and I haven't clicked the pre-approval offer yet, so it likely gives more details) so I'm still a tad confused. Either way, it would report as a positive thing, and I would pay it off right away with the cash i have saved, but I want to know everything I'm getting into before I risk a hard pull.

Would recommend taking the offer? Shipping seems outrageous ($100) so I could easily go in store and spend less, but the goal is to build positive tradelines.

Tried credit unions?

My parents have Fingerhut, and it seems like it would be like my experience with Grandpointe: You maybe buy one thing because of lack of selection of anything good, then it just sits. $0.02

I think you can buy positive trade lines for less than $100 bucks. When you say you're not getting approved, do you mean secure cards too?

That was my thinking. I don't want to spend that much money on something I likely won't use again. * I * got denied everything, even secured cards. Hubby finally got approved for a Cap1 secured. We would like just one more thing, so we have 2 positive positive lines reporting.

My kitchen table broke, so we need to get a new one. I have the cash to cover it. But, if I can finance it (not on the Cap1 card, limit isn't high enough), then just use the cash to PIF, that seems to be a better route. My second option I considered was to apply for a Target card (again, I was denied in the past, but I think hubby has a good shot at it), and use that to buy the table. We shop at Target frequently so it would certainly get some good use. I'm just not sure the best way to proceed. I would much rather get a second card, like Target or something, that we would get some use out of and wouldn't be a terrible addition.

I guess the bottom line is, I need to buy a table, I have the cash, but if I could use it to my benefit, I'd like a reasonable way to finance it. Open to suggestions or thoughts.

Try another secured card? At least this way when it graduates you can have a real card. That's the route I took and it worked for me! Granted it took a year, but the fact that I got ANY visa/mc reporting helped open doors for me to others, first with credit unions and eventually with my big fish, amex. I had some help along the way of course (see sig) with all my negatives, but in terms of, if I may, REBUILDING (wink wink) I think the secured cards were my ticket in.

Edit: Have you tried those pre-approval sites in the WFNNB thread? I remember talking to you before but I can't remember if it was there or somewhere else.

We've already been denied all the big secured cards (US Bank, Bank of America, DCU, NFCU, local CUs, and local banks). USAA is a bust (that's who our repo is with) and we just got the Cap1 card. IF I app anywhere, or finance the table at all, it will be the last app for a year. We hope to get a mortgage next year, so I don't want any more apps until then. I've tried most of the WFNNB cards, but can't get an offer, which is fine because we'd likely never use any of them. Really, 90% of our spending outside of regular bills is either Target or the grocery store. So we wouldn't get much use out of a store card, unless it was Target. But I don't want to get one if it's going to hinder us down the road.
If I don't finance it, that's fine. I'll just pay cash and be done with it. But if I'm going to add anything else, it's going to be in the next month or so. Otherwise, it will have to wait until next year.
