What should I do with a car loan gone bad

am I missing something or is there no lien for me? I do not see an option for expired liens.

I click on the UCC link for statewide

I have tried standard and non standard. I have used variations of my name eg. middle init, middle name, no middle name

and when I click search it says

There are currently no financing statements or other liens for the above requested criteria.

I was thinking about this situation today as I do every day. As far as the lien, is a lien placed on a person or is it placed on the car or vin. Going to the link above it is only asking for name but in my thought process I would think a lien would be placed on the title or the vin and not the person who has the loan. Is my thinking wrong?
