Hi...I just received the news that I have two civil judgments...one from Citibank, one from Capital One.

What are the chances of being able to get a settlement on these? And who do I call to start the process of settling/starting a payment plan/whatever? The original creditor?

Help! Thanks!

I've successfully settled on two judgements recently. IMO, even though its a judgement they would still prefer to have a lump sum instead of going down the long road of garnishment, etc. I was able to reduce a $9300 judgement balance to $6000. Also, a $4100 to $2050. I wouldn't act on anything unless you have the cash to pay what you are offering. Personally, I just called them up and offered it. They countered, I countered, etc. After we agreed upon an amount I didn't pay until I had proof of the settlement details in my hand. I then paid with a cashiers check, sent it usps return receipt showing proof of delivery. All was well.
