So, called AMEX. My BCP is being re-issued with a chip&PIN.

I didn't have my Zync onhand, so couldn't do that one.

Let us know if it shows up with a chip.

Users on another forum report asking for one earlier this week and being told that a replacement was being sent out. Once it showed up, no chip! They called Amex to ask what's up, and the CSR said they're only issuing them for Platinum and Cent. Apparently, the previous CSR had signed them up to have EMV as the "preference" for future replacements once it is released but that they actually weren't available yet. I guess they're trying out the chips on just a few cards first to try to "work out the kinks"

Aaaand my new BCP is here! Confirmed, has an EMV chip, and also gained PayPass capability (like my Zync always had). Don't have PIN yet.

I doubt you'll get a PIN since Amex is Chip & Signature...

Someone mentioned that a CSR told them the new USAA does not have a magnetic stripe. How is that possible?

EDIT: Never mind. I forgot to RTFM. The link Ron provided has the facts.

I just picked up my today mail. It came pretty quickly. It mailed from 78240. I got my USAA EMV World MC. It is a black color card with EMV chip on it. They didn't even change the expiration date of the card. My card is going to expire next two months. Yes, it has magnetic strip on the back of the card. It comes with the orange slip. It said the PIN will come will come separately from the mail amd memorize it. It also told me to call to activate the card from home phone or online at USAA.com

  • 1 year later...

I saw someone using USAA Amex with EMV Chip at Costco self check-out a couple of days ago. The card looks similar to USAA World MC with EMV Chip.

Ron.

They are probably still standing there waiting for the card reader to finish reading the chip.

I just received the USAA World MasterCard last week. No chip. If available, maybe I need to make a special request. No rush. I got other chip and signature / chip and pin cards to use.
