Citibank

I have a credit card account with Citibank that is showing a late payment from January 2008. However, I do not believe that this is showing correctly as I have never missed a payment on this account. That being said, my question is two-fold:

1) Since I just completed Why Chat's process for two medical collections accounts with TransUnion and Equifax (still working on the Experian portion), is it too soon to dispute this late payment or should I wait awhile to initiate this dispute?

2) Should I just dispute this online through the usual means on the bureaus' websites? Is Citibank known to keep meticulous records or is it likely to be deleted because Citibank won't have record of it?

Thanks for the input!

You have a Citi account, as in it's still open?

Either way, I'd probably just GW them, one late after all this time probably isn't hurting you.

Correct. I have the Citi account and it is still open. It is one of my older accounts, but I don't like seeing the late payment on my reports and would like to have it removed. Should I dispute it online or goodwill Citi to have the late payment removed?

Well there is conflicting things being said. If you were never late on the card, you should dispute it as being reported incorrectly that you were never late, if in fact you were late, and you would like them to remove it, then you would go the GW letter route. There is a big difference because in the first case they are reporting incorrectly and you can sue them if they don't fix it. In the second, they are reporting correctly and you are asking for a favor...
