This is an interesting thread and right on time.

I unfroze all 3 credit bureaus for 15 days, I was going to lease a car, I refroze my experian after coming from the Acura dealership (since they ONLY pulled that) and applied for a Discover it cc, they were successful with pulling experian, I got approved!! I tried my luck with the shopping cart trick on Expedia, i was booking a trip, the cc that was being offered was citi MC, i was denied, I got email alerts stating that there were 2 new inquired on experian. I was really upset because I froze EX.

Any suggestions on if I can dispute the citi inq? I have the confirmation that it was frozen.

The ARS link is for IDA, and both links for IDA lead to a 404 not found error page.

For ARS and IDA, I sent letters via snailmail.

I did too. I just wanted to let BW know the links were incorrect.

It is the only way to freeze those two, AFAIK.

You can ask Citi to remove duplicate inquiries.

I haven't been diligent in maintaining this list,

because freezing is not a panacea.

I'll add to that by saying that it is a waste of time for most people.

Here's a link with details, discussion and instruction on freezing ARS and IDA.

http://hackmytrip.com/2013/06/freeze-ida-ars-us-bank-club-carlson/

The author was declined on his Club Carlson VISA application, then he froze ARS and IDA and was approved.

"It turns out that US Bank gets this information from two secondary credit bureaus: ARS (Advanced Resolution Services) and IDA (ID Analytics). It’s possible to “freeze” these 2 bureaus with a simple form request, thus disallowing US Bank from getting information from those two bureaus."

except you can still get declined from US Bank for "too many new accounts".

they have a strict limit of the number of accounts opened in the last 6 months and will issue a hard decline with no recon if you're over that limit.

freezing ARS and IDA is a waste of time for most people.

Huh, weird. US Bank approved my Cash+ application instantly online with 6 new accounts well within the previous 6 months. I wonder what that "strict limit" is?

Then again, I'm not most people. ;)

How do you app Cash+ online?

LOL, I only said that because I disagree about freezing ARS/IDA being "a waste of time". No different than needing to freeze EX, and I would argue that it is actually MORE important. Especially important to any self-respecting CB CW/CP. :D
