qwerty4
After seeing some of the FICO score ranges given for CC rejections, I was curious about actual FICO score ranges. I did some digging, found I was re-inventing the wheel, and found some interesting info. My biggest surprise is that the vanilla scores, such as EQ Beacon 5 may not really go up to 850 in the real world. I'd be especially interested if people here have scores that contradict the links below: Fico 04 Ranges: http://www.mlslistings.com/Understanding-Credit-Scores http://www.krollfactualdata.com/kroll-factual-data/media/assets/PDFs/RBP%20Letters/H-3.PDF Different TU Model Ranges http://www.transunion.com/docs/rev/business/financialservices/FS_ModelsOverview.pdf More info of all 3 and different models: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Understanding-FICO-Scoring/The-many-flavors-of-FICO-Editions-versions-and-variations/m-p/1197617

Experian Fair Isaac V2: scores range from 320 to 844. Trans Union FICO Risk score Classic 04: scores range from 309 to 839. This makes sense. Burgerwars
I wonder if whatever score model you're using, if the lowest possible is 300, and that's your goal, and you're already something like a 340, whether 300 is even possible. A 340 would mean about you're defaulting on all your debt for a long time period, not making any payments and have 100 inquiries. Probably the only way to get your score lower is to get more credit and default on that too. Being that nobody will probably give you credit just so you can default on them, your 300 goal would be unreachable. Link2k
It would be possible to continuously acquire collections and judgments without having credit extended per se. +1 The people I know with bad credit haven't actually had credit extended in years. They just don't pay their bills churning through utilities, cell phones, land lines, etc. Having checking accounts, pay day loans and more go to collections. The way the system is setup without having access to a resource like CB to guide you a single mistake will essentially turn you off of credit as the only issuers willing to touch you will make you pay to use credit and if you aren't knowledgeable about the system small chance you will actually take that offer. All that being said I can't imagine there is a significant difference in risk to an issuer looking at any score sub 400. Also Bob's score range

BobWang
Bob, I just clicked on your link and it appears you may have changed back to Guru. You look strange with that gold shield. I stole that image link from ES2. The CS e-mail did say 5 days for the badge change to appear. I don't want to falsely inflate my meager credentials in the meantime. Link2k
My score actually went down below the good credit to verified member for a month when a negative was inserted (and removed a few days later), my badge stayed listed as good credit the whole time. Those badges don't inspire much confidence in me for just that reason Edited May 4, 2012 by Link2k
