How do I remove Fraud Alert and Active Duty Alert?

Recommended Posts

How do I remove an Initial Fraud Alert and an Active Duty alert from all three of my credit reports (TransUnion, Equifax, Experian)?

I was able to remove the fraud alerts from my TransUnion report via their website, which was easy. However, I'm wondering if removing fraud alerts from one agency will also remove them from the reports of the other two agencies.

I know PLACING a fraud alert with any agency will also place the alert for the other two, but I wasn't able to find any information if REMOVING an alert from one will also remove it from the other two.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to CreditBoards! We hope that you find what you're looking for here.

Some helpful tips:

  • Your post may not get a reply right away. Don't be discouraged, this is a very busy board. If it falls off of the first page, feel free
to reply to your post yourself, with the word *bump* in the text. This will *bump* your post back up to the top of the board.
  • If you haven't yet, take a peek at out Newbies Section.
Everything that you need to know is in that forum, for the most part! It's a lot of reading, we know, but this credit stuff can have a steep learning curve. In no time, you'll be posting like the pros!
  • If you find that someone is discourteous to you, use the REPORT button at the bottom of every post - that will ensure that a moderator or admin looks at the post and decides if it is against the TOS.
  • Off -topic posts should go in the General Forum.

Again, welcome to the CreditBoards family!

I had active duty and fraud alert on all three. Transunion, like you said you can remove from the website. The other two, I had to write letters to them stating to remove both alerts. I stuck a copy of my DL, a utility, and put my social on the letter, so there were no questions as to who I was.
