I went into a bakery there, and spoke my order in French..she rolled her eyes and muttered something..and then served the person behind me...I find them rude and inhospitable...at least we are nice, and wait till you leave before we talk about you

No vacations for the next 3 years; none. We're on a budget to pay this house in 3 more years by throwing every penny we have to the principal, and there is nothing that is going to thwart that.

My one sister said but the kids have to live during that time, it's not fair to not take them somewhere. I felt like saying mouse, please! lol But I don't. I told her the kids can go a few years without a vacation. We live on a small lake for chrisesake, if they want to go boating/skiing, tubing, they can do it all summer long like everyone else around here. My sister is extremely wealthy, and goes out to eat twice a day and weekends away every week, vacations every year to Hawaii etc. Seriously, I swear she spends more $$ on her dog and her nails, (my sister's nails, not the dogs lol)than we do on our mortgage, but that's not our life, nor our financial abilities.

After that we plan on going to Disney World/Sea World with the kids. We'll stay with my mom in central florida.

Bah to your sister. That plan is solid genius.

Nothing wrong with that plan. It's not like your kids are being neglected or going hungry.

When you say "mouse, please!" record it and post it here.

2 weeks from now I will be spending the weekend in Vegas. Probably 2 or 3 cruises (maybe I'll finally score that Med cruise). Throw in another weekend in Vegas this summer and that should round us out!

You would laugh at me. :glare: I have a very *cheerful* voice. Me saying "mouse, please" would most definitely make you all spit your drinks out all over your keyboards. And I would never hear the end of it! :cry2:

:D I wrote out my Bucket List and I would love to go to the Masai Mara in Kenya to go on Safari. Problem is the other day I was put off a little by the threatened terrorist attack. I'd love to see Africa's exotic animals. Even if I went to India to the reserves there, you have to have all kind of shots, but it's my dream this year one or the other, if that fails, well Canada here I come!

Oh noooooooo, your kids are going to be sooooooo neglected!! Hey, I nominate your opinionated rich sister to pay for your kids to go on vacation so they're not missing out on anything.

....and I'm a tad jealous that your gonna have your house paid off. Good job. :good:

Conferences in Michigan and England this spring/summer. They are mostly funded so I might explore Europe for a week while across the pond. A trip to visit family at some point, and I want to do some beachy/scuba things more than once.

Returning to Lugano, Switzerland in the Fall - visiting friends/casinos/drinking/eating. Looking for part time rental to do this every year.

Returning to Japan after that. Repeat same events as above with different friends that enjoy the same. Hope to see southern Japan on this trip and ride the bullet trains. It's a great way to travel. Absolutely love Japan but not the earthquakes! Won't be staying on the top of high rise hotels again or eating sushi right on the ocean front. Just too chicken..search.gif

We have Gabby's Make a Wish trip sometime - a week at Disney World. Waiting for dates, but hoping for April.

I'm doing a long weekend in Denver with Squirrel early February.

And another in July in Seattle. I think we're running.

We're all doing a week in San Francisco at the end of July with Squirrel (and A?). And I think there's a run or something.

Squirrel and I are planning a long-ish weekend in Disney World early November. Might also be a run. :dntknw:

I want to try to do a camping trip to Sequoia or Yosemite in May if weather allows... if not, then September. And maybe Joshua Tree this spring, before it gets too hot... Or Anza Borrego...

So a bunch of little things happening. And apparently I'm turning into Squirrel.

Yes. All those!!

Plus I apparently will be in Cali a half dozen or so times throughout the year. Another visit or two to TX. random handful of other states. And the BIG one this year?

PERU.

I'm so stupidly excited for that.

Um. And all these are "run-cations." If J and I are still together (lol), maybe I'll go camping or something with him

I MIGHT go to prison for a week sometime this year. Employment purposes only.:ph34r:

No clue yet though. Other than that? I don't have any vacations planned. No money.

We went last year. I truly loved Barcelona, and if you like, I'll PM you the place we stayed off Hesperia Ramblas that I liked so much. We mostly went on a cruise, though.

This year's trip is Iceland.

England for a week or so in July to visit our son before he leaves (he is in the Navy) and just to do something together :-).

I reallly want to do Seattle, Monterey, and Vegas - along with getting away at Christmas but I don't know. Being unemployed sucks.

I have several vacations and several business trips (which are almost like mini-vacations) on the books this year:

January/February: one and a half week road trip to the Pacific NorthWest to see my godparents and godbrothers.

March: weeklong business trip to Denver.

April: weeklong business trip to New York/annual celebration for the bank.

June: two and a half week road trip to Texas.

August: one week vacation to Florida.

November: 20 day Grand Hawaiian Islands and Mexican Riviera cruise.

December: one week vacation to the Sierra Nevadas.

To be fair, I get 45 days of PTO, per year, that I can use as vacation, personal time, or whatever. This year I'll be taking 62 official vacation days, so 17 of the days are unpaid.

And while I'll be on vacation, I'll still have my corporate notebook with me to work from wherever I'm at. But luckily I enjoy my job, so it's not too bad. ;)

And two of those trips are business trips, so those aren't included in paid vacation time, so take those two out, just to be sure. ;)

You get 45 days of PTO a year!?

I am definitely in the wrong damn industry. I get 22. And when I have worked there one more year, I will get 29 and that is the most I will get - at all.
