Is it possible to convert an existing card where you are a single holder to a joint account without having to close your existing card?

thanks

this will vary by lender. Some require both account owners to meet the credit and other criteria for the card. Chase just recently stopped taking requests for converting to joint ownership.

thanks, so in typical joint applications do they look at both peoples credit and deny if one person has great while the other's is so-so (like a late payment or 2). Or should my great credit as the primary applicant be enough to push through a joint app for most cards?

I just did this with Wells Fargo. I added my wife as an authorized user to my account, and in less than a week she was issued a credit card linked to my account.
