Was the score I was given a FICO score? I deleted the score and personal info from the letter. Looks like the range, but doesn't say FICO anywhere on the letter:

Is there any place to go to check how these scores are determined? Indeed, knowing

ones FICO, which in my case is 723 as of today compared to a 512 GEC is not worth disclosing

if you can not tell if it is right or wrong. How could you infer a problem with your

CRs if you do not know what 512 means, as compared to TU 708, EQ 720?

Someone just posted the other day that a Vantage score was used by a CU. Anyone recall where that was?

I'll play ....

Chase pulled TU and gave a "Card Acquisition Risk Score", range 250-900.

They also pulled EX, but the AA letter only mentions the above.

Chase used bankcard enhanced FICOs. That was still an EX FICO.

NASA FCU--Experian range 320-844.

Still a FICO.

Alliant CU uses EXP VantageScore 3.0.

Penfed uses EQ FICO NG2 (it is a FICO but an uncommon one).

Last I saw here, Alliant switched from pulling EQ FICOs to EX FICOs.

PenFed is unusual, but that doesn't belong in this thread.

That is what Alliant provides for free, and for some reason I was thinking they used the score too. But I think you are correct.

I only mentioned PenFed because someone listed it above.

I think this may be what you were thinking of: https://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=567669

I can absolutely confirm that Alliant uses true FICO scores (Equifax, I believe) for their credit/loan products, but provides members with their "free credit score!!" from Vantage 3. I had occasion to speak with one of their reps about another issue and brought that up. As in, reminded them that other issuers were providing true FICO scores for their customers, and that as an institution that uses FICO scores, they could get on board with FICO's Open Access program. I reminded them that they were being a bit hypocritical (did not use that word, more like "confusing") to customers who did not know of this specific policy. This seemed like news to the rep (I'm not surprised), and he promised to mention the issue to the higher-ups. Right. That was 3 minutes of my time I'll never get back. I just couldn't let it go. I don't know, but I'm willing to bet that Vantage provides their "free credit score!!" without charge to Alliant and other CUs who provide it to customers. Way to get more credibility from the masses.
