Should I get Geek Squad Black Tie Protection for my laptop?

I am really loving my Toshiba Satellite L755 and except for a few times getting sand and food stuck under the keys so a key wouldnt type (ive always fixed it,) its perfect. (Got a 4.2 our of 5 rating at Best Buy too. And I love it. 15.6" HD Screen 4GB RAM 320GB HD Dual-core "Pentium" processor, Win7SP1 HDMI OUT :yes2: Atomic Silver color.. and i take it everywhere. $349.99. :D ) and i sill have two weeks to put the above-named "protection" on it.

I bought it in-store at Best Buy. What does that protection cover, and what does it not cover?

 

Lets take some examples:

 

1) Someone comes over, throws it against wall. Screen breaks hinges break computer becomes a brick. (Y or N)

2) I spill Gatorade on keyboard, i see a spark smell the "oh yeah thats a gonner" smoke, get away from electrical hazard and fire. (Y or N)

3. I drop the computer and the screen doesnt work and/or is shattered. (Y or N)

AND i already know the answer to this one (i think).. Laptop becomes stolen. (If i file a reoprt, is it Y or N?)

- (5 - computer doesnt turn on, doesnt work right, stops working. Im more interested in the "extreme," more likely examples above.)

It depends on the plan that you buy. You have the standard plan and the advanced plan. The advanced plan covers damage (up to 2 times) due to accidental spills/drops/whatever.

 

If someone picks it up and throws it across the room...well, that isn't exactly accidental.

I think you need to look at the price of the plan to determine if it is worth it. If you have a $350 computer, it doesn't make sense to put it on a $100 per year (or however much it cost) service plan. If you have a $2500 computer, it would make more sense.

 

I personally rarely buy a service plan (and then usually through the manufacturer when my warranty is about to expire...and only if I know I am going to have issues with it)
