ALL 3 CRAs have to be freeze-free in order to sign up for the first time.

AFTER signing up:

Experian-based services like USAA-CCMP can still pull through ALL freezes.

TransUnion-based services like MPM will pull frozen TU, but will fail on Equifax & Experian.

Equifax-based services like Equifax Complete I have no first-hand experience.

If one freezes their credit from the 3 bureaus how does that effect credit monitoring and pulling your own reports? The reason that I ask is about 10 days ago i received an alert from Credit Secure that there was a pull done on EQ. I checked the alert and apparently Webbank Bill Me Later pulled. The thing is I never applied for anything and it was PayPal apparently that said I requested it (haven't used PP in almost a year). After filing a dispute online that it was fraudulent it came back that it was valid. After calling Equifax directly they claimed that it was out of their hands and I had to deal with the creditor directly. I called up Web Bank and they opened an investigation and said in 7-10 days it should be cleared. The rep suggested that I file a police report (maybe overkill since nothing was opened) but at the least to put a freeze on my credit.

I hadnt planned on applying for anything outside of maybe 1 CC in December. But I do like using Credit Secure. Would having a freeze impact the ability to accurately pull my own reports and check for variances in my scores?

C$ is like USAA-CCMP

Quizzle, another Experian service, also fails to do follow-up pulls through a freeze.

Also, once Quizzle thinks your EX is frozen, even if you unfreeze, it won't try until you call and (after sitting on hold forever) have them manually flip a switch that will clear your frozen flag.

Credit Sesame is unlike CCT, C$ and USAA-CCMP in that CS can't pull through an Experian freeze after signing up successfully.

Now I know why CS didnt update for me this month. At least PSECU will pull through an EX freeze still.

Hmm, CS DID update for me through my frozen Experian.

But I'd specifically asked Tony if he could make it happen.
